Interesting read about the future of the MLB license

Lets face facts EA Sports is going to get the license. Upside better competition will bring out the best in both EA and SCEA. Downside if EA gets it, they may have to skip a year ala NBA Live to have enough development time

If MLB goes third party exclusive again, then there's nothing to worry about as the Show is far superior to MVP with the addition that the MVP team is long gone.

It all depends on the price MLB wants. I was told by an EA community manager that when 2K got the deal, there was no way on earth EA (or anyone else) could make money from the deal.
I think 2K didn't care as they lost NFL and wanted to establish a major footprint within the sports world.

I'm hoping that the license is open for all developers and no restrictions are put on it.

Totally agree with you but EA has got to want in. Also remember a certain SCEA developer is already at EA Sports. I think its safe to say though in the gaming world competition is what gives us the best product. Instead of the same old cough Call of Duty online cough cough

That's what I'm looking at, Kolbe moving to EA certainly smells like them getting a baseball title. EA knows SCEA develops the best baseball of all-time, so taking Kolbe can certainly help with Madden development, but can help a lot more with a new baseball game development

I better give Kolbe a call and talk to him to tell him he's been hoodwinked!

He was under the impression that after 14 years of developing baseball....he was looking for the opportunity to try something new. ....like football!

As long as The Show continues to exist, I could care less.

Said it before and (right now) will say it again..
Give me all the baseball games you can. I'll play and support them if they give me enjoyment regardless of who makes them.

In any case I'm VERY happy with what I have now with The Show (since the latter 989 versions) and what I really need now is a great FB game.
