Gaining the zone in Online vs.

This is for all you Online VS. pro's out there... I'm having trouble getting over the blue line and establishing myself offensively against any decent online opponent. Whenever I cross the line, I usually get checked, am forced to curl up and then get stick checked, or I have to dump it.. Since I don't want to play a dump-n-chase type of game EVERY single play, what can I do to get around this trapping at the blue line?

I would also like to know how to do this to the other team.. Every time I go for the hit with one of my defenders, I either miss, or I make the hit but they still end up with the puck..

aghhh this only started happening when I got to the 40's skill levels. From 1-35 everything was fun and I was gaining the zone no problem.. Now it's like this game is a hassle!!

need help. lol.

Re: Gaining the zone in Online vs.

Here are a couple ways my team works into the zone consistently... Before I start I will let you know, we are not big deke artists. Center and Forwards only make a few simple deke moves a few times a game.

1. Quick passes out to a guy sprinting down... Try to gain possession in the defensive zone and have an anticipator making a move forward. The goal is to move with the defenders as they move. They are not set at the blue line yet and will struggle more to stay back than attacking you. Move the puck deep to allow your offense to set up and begin to work the puck. Do not feel tempted to cherry pick as you take yourself out of the defense, but you can read plays and get to the side boards quickly for an outlet pass and move.

2. Cross ice passes to move defenders. If the d is set in the neutral zone and blue line. Get a pass across the ice and then get one back. The goal is to get the momentum of the d to switch. You then might make the corner at the blue line and get the puck deep.

3. Get your stick skillz on and be a Deke Masta.... Guys who really know this game are great. Others are not and the Gap is a big one. This can be devastating if done properly as you leave guys in bad positions and can create open opportunities for your self or others.

My club is big on 1 and 2 and suck out loud on 3. We focus on D first and use turnovers to generate our offense. This requires good discipline as too many people chase the puck on defense. They then press the offense into bad situations at the blue line to keep up and give easy opportunities. One issue is you are likely playing against guys that play together and you have a group that is random. No one is on the same page and you will get torched.

Cool thanks.. I was talking more about Online Versus mode, so it's hard to coordinate those things with the CPU, and by hard I mean impossible. It seems like they don't know when to break out or where to set up for a pass lol. But I'm definitely interested in GOOD club play.. You guys on 360? I'm a real good 2Way Center, and also a pretty good D-Man if needed..

What view are you using? It might be a bit tricky at first but if you switch to custom 3 you can see a ton of ice, passing lanes, etc. Helped me out a ton.

View will really help out a lot... You can make a custom camera view. It is a bit tricky (actually just rediculous to try to figure out.. EA's menu system was created by brain dead monkey's)....

To make a custom camera set up.. Go to practice mode... any will do... hit start... then Custom Camera will pop up... adjust the width angle depth ect.. save to custom Camera 1....

I spent 30 mins trying to figure that out.... Pain in the you know what...

It's definitely not the camera choice that's effecting me, but thanks for the input. I use overhead so I can pretty much see everything I need to see.. It's more a strategic matter.
