Lock and Load Analog Hitting - MLB The SHow13

I love the idea of analog hitting. The problem is that you cant aim your swing. The Show is looking to remedy that with Zone Analog. It seems most peeps realize how hard that would be and almost not sim in a way.

Hitting is really 2 things. 1. timing 2.aiming

Here is my idea for
Lock and Load Analog hitting
1. Timing would be controlled by the Rt trigger. Hold down to lift leg. Release to swing. Re-click to check
2. The PCI will be controlled by the Lt Thumbstick.

The PCI can be moved until the release of the trigger.

Tell me what you guys think. I believe this will be so much easier and more intuitive. Yes, I have not played Zone analog, but I think we can all see that this is not going to be a fun as we might have hoped.

Re: Lock and Load Analog Hitting - MLB The SHow13

If the PS3 had triggers like the 360, I would consider it. The way that it is (even with the concave trigger attachments), I don't think it would really feel right.

They have the left stick analog aiming now, though. It locks in place once you thrust forward with the right analog stick.

EDIT: I guess the reason I have to relate your mechanism to the 360 is because World Series Baseball 2K1 had this kind of hitting on Dreamcast, which has a similar controller in that regard. It felt really good when you hit it out, I must say. I only think it works well with back triggers, though.

I love the idea on analog zone, i just don't think i could pull it off. I have a hard enough time getting around on using 1 stick

What a second, then I'm missing something. I though it was right stick for motion and left for direction

The OP suggested to use R2 instead. Hold it down to load, release to swing.

Again, see World Series Baseball 2K1 for Dreamcast.

Re: Lock and Load Analog Hitting - MLB The SHow13

Pre-loading and holding one analog stick for PCI placement while analog swinging with the other stick does not sound too difficult. It will be just as difficult as analog hitting was when we tried it for the first time in 11. Yes, for those who stuck with zone or timing hitting in 11 will have twice the difficulty as the rest of us.

But if you polled people who used the analog stick to swing, versus people who used a new trigger style, I am sure the vote would be close to 50/50. IMO, clicking a button a bunch of times would feel less sim, therefore will feel less comfortable to me. The most exhilarating gaming experience I had in recent memory was the first solid base hit via the analog stick. I would hate to see that go away.

The more realistic games get, the easier they become for me.

I'm not feeling the idea.
Pressing the R stick up to swing just feels natural, add the rumble feedback this year when making contact and nothing else can beat it I think. Also check swings feel perfect with the right stick. With your trigger idea having to tap it again to check swing won't work for me as well as how it is now.
