Why are players like Dan Gadzuric who are playing overseas in the free agent pool, but players like CDR, Weems, JR Smith, K-Mart, and Wilson Chandler removed from rosters after the update?

They all were in the default rosters!

Because it is a contract issue, China has it that if you play for them you are not allowed to leave and join any other teams until their season is over (in May). They don't cut players or let them out of there contracts because all the games they won would be forfeited.

Other players in other countries can leave or get cut and return to the NBA....
