Justud,

Do you surf the net for blogs from Madden haters? I seem to recall you as the OP on practically every 'blog' that rails against Madden for a few months. You gotta know who writes this blog...

Just wondering.

flaming madden isnt a job
its a lifestyle

the same passion folks have for tha game of football is the same sentiments shared for the game of madden. when it lets you down, it strikes you in the heart. like an ex you just cant seem to get over. an ex that comes around every year and promises that everything will be better this year. you take her back and get burned again.

madden

its a love/hate relationship

Re: Great Article on ratings in sports games

This right here says it all, and I couldn't agree more:

Quote:
Trends - Another hardcore gripe of Madden is that it has too much of a knee-jerk reaction to rating players. Calvin Johnson drops a pass in a game? lower his hands rating. Your LT missed a block? lower his footwork rating, Kicker hit a 60 yard FG? Raise his Kicking Strength! You get the idea. No offense, but thats the Dicky V mentality. Thats how casual fans who are politicking for higher ratings for THEIR players and who know little about the game they're watching rate players. We'd like ratings people knowledgeable enough to look over a longer period with more data to determine who advances and declines.
While I don't really think it's a huge deal as far as ratings go, they are consistently atrocious in Madden. Go figure.

Good article.

It talks about both games and how each should improve on ratings.

LAW97,IMO you couldnt be more right. But their are individuals that believe we should settle for whatever is put out there, and just enjoy the game. If I wasn't a hardcore football fan, it would be ok with me. But I live for this game, so Madden has been a let down for me, for many years because I believe issues we still see should have been corrected by now.

Re: Great Article on ratings in sports games

I wholeheartedly feel where the article is coming from but can't all this be made a moot point with certain options?

I am just going to speak on Madden since this is a Madden forum and here is what I mean. NCAA 12 has a roster share, that can be used in online dynasty and ranked games. So if Madden 13 adds this, along with expanded slider sets, what Donny Moore does or doesn't do, wouldn't really matter.

I am the first to point out how I think ratings for any sports simulation game are "off" if not using some universal in-game system based on real life data. However, as long as there is an option for these things to be changed and shared with others online, I am cool.

Instead, I want developers working on the things User adjustments can't drastically impact, like needed transitional animations, missing penalties, player interactions, ratings influence, slider strength, presentation and overall representation of NFL parameters.

It's 2011 and in this information age, "the data" is available for every Tom, Dick and Harry, to interpret ratings in their own way. The best business practice for creating ratings for sports simulation games, is to establish a ratings system, stick with it and give gamers the tools to come together to make changes as they see fit, imo.

Why is it that people get so butt hurt when other people compain about Madden? Like they work there or something. People seem to forget that EA is supposed to be accommodating us not the other way around.
