Is it impossible to start the all star game???

..... Two Seasons in a row now I have been second in All-Star Votes out of all Western Forwards .... (Behind Kevin Durant) ... Two seasons in a row KD has gotten hurt a mere week before the all star game ......... This past season Rudy Gay was the starter .... Prior to that ... my teammate Blake Griffin got the nod ...... Has anyone been named the starter .... I understand that I'm only in year 2 .... maybe starting the all star game is reserved for the second contrat??? I don't know ...
