Icon4 Major Flaw with Recruiting

This is an issue I have ran into several times in Dynasty mode and I am unsure why it hasn't been fixed. Every single season, the Top recruits in my game are WRs, RBs, or ATHs. This does not seem realistic at all in comparison to how recruits fare up in real life..

Look at recruit rankings on scout or rivals from the last 10 years and compare them to this game. It's ridiculous. Ocassionally a lineman should be the top player or a quarterback should be the top player. Instead it is a ATH or a RB or WR every single year and theres 11 5 star receivers and maybe 1 five star OT or DE.

Here are a few examples from my game, I will break down the Top 10 recruits each year:
2011: 4 RB, 4 WR, 2 ATH
2012: 5 WR, 3 RB, 1 ATH, 1 TE
2013: 4 RB, 4 WR, 1 ATH, 1 LB

Compare those numbers to the Top 10 on the Rivals.com recruiting rankings:
2010: 2 DE, 2 DT, 2 WR, 1 DB, 1 RB, 1 OL, 1 ATH
2011: 2 DE, 2 OL, 2 DB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 LB, 1 ATH
2012: 3 DE, 2 WR, 1DB, 1 OL, 1RB, 1 DT, 1 QB

This continually happens in my dynasties no matter who I play with or what difficulty it is set to. I really hope this is something they fix for next year as it is very frustrating. I understand I should recruit the best player at each position but I am simply asking EA to represent the real world just as they do with other aspects of the game.

Thanks

With all due respect, picking out one thing about the online dynasty or even recruiting and saying it's a major flaw is sort of like calling out one major problem with the Middle East...

Doesn't make your point less valid but it's just one of many flaws.

Like how Athletes are the LEAST position-flexible players of all the recruits for the most part. Every year there are 1-2 FS that would make phenomenal wideouts... Or an OLB that could be a DE... or a FB that could be a HB.. but you almost never see any of these things with Athletes, the players that are supposed to have skills as multiple positions.

Like how there are so many clones and you see the same EXACT players come through each and every year... For me recruiting isn't trying to get the BEST players, it's about trying to get a player I haven't yet had.. It's like they took the stupid pre-done draft classes in Madden and did the same thing here with random names, except there are fewer variables in terms of how the players turn out! So annoying!

There are too many problems to shake a stick at...

I looked at this same thing last night.. It took me until the number 18 ranked recruit to see something other than a WR, RB, or ATH. I thought that was nuts.

Re: Major Flaw with Recruiting

I had noticed this in all of my dynasties but never really thought much of it until I had a dynasty where the 44th ranked WR in the class was STILL 4*. Then when I signed him, he ended up being 67 rated overall and I had to cut him because he was worse than some of the 3* I had recruited the year before.

I just started to ignore star ratings and focus on the individual attributes of the recruit. I've gotten lucky on some guys that were low 3* rated and then come in mid 70's as good as some 4* recruits. Then you have the kickers/punters/fullbacks who are all rated low and then come in great. One of my best recruits was a 1 star #4 FB who came in at 90 speed and was 77 overall.

I wish the ratings were different, but in the end, it all comes down to how well you scout the individual attributes to get what you want/need.

I believe it has to do with the new "Sparq" rating they use to rank the players. Sparq stands for speed, agility, reaction and quickness so I'm assuming they average out those attributes to rank the players. Obviously the skill position players will always have the best ratings in these areas. Hope this helps

This is what I believe also, they screwed up the recruiting ranking system when they implemented the sparq rating. There are still 5 star quality guys at other positions, they just aren't labeled as such. You just gotta look at their ratings to find them.

I also agree with what Hellison said about clone recruits. That's my biggest problem with recruiting since we've been on Next-Gen. So many prospects all feel the same but just have different names. It's annoying. That alone takes a lot of the fun out of recruiting. Back in the PS2 days, recruits felt different and to an extent, felt like they had some character to them. Now all the recruits are so generic between their cloned attributes to only having a few generic heads to look at that it makes it all feel so stale sometimes.

I really miss the days of NCAA on the PS2.

Re: Major Flaw with Recruiting

If you want a flaw, how bout in my first year of Dynasty; Florida has commitments from the Top 3 5-star Running Backs, and the Top-2 4-star Running Backs. Doesnt make sense to me. Sense i know for sure the game will not change some of those backs to wideout like IRL.

Re: Major Flaw with Recruiting

I just took a quick peak at my 2016 Recruiting board. And in the top 15, all are WR save but two, which are both ATH.

However a DT and DE both come in at 19 and 23.
