I can't wait to get the game!! I typically wait til feb. until I'm bored with Madden, which I don't get til I'm bored with the Show which I don't get until I'm bored with 2k. It's a vicious cycle.

I can't wait for the ability to use the current rosters. I mean, I know I can right now. But strangely a lot of the appeal of a new NBA 2K is seeing all the players on their new teams and whatnot, alongside the fresh rookies. The end-of-season-but-slightly-newer rosters 2K12 came with just crushed my spirit. A bunch of mish-mash with the rare transaction (Rudy Fernandez on the Mavs because the deal occurred prior to lockout). I just can't wait for Detroit to make their moves and carve out their new roster.

Secondly, I've been really curious about 2K's new update feature. I'm anxious to see how that pans out. For example, will Nick Young receive a mo-hawk with the first update?

Overall, I'm happy the lockout will allow me to use the other 70% of the game I purchased. Current Exhibition, My Player, and Association will all get much usage. It'll be a long two weeks (until free agency). However, I'm also thankful for the upcoming DLC. That should definitely help bridge the gap. The playability of 2K12 is about to multiply 15-fold in my house.

NBA's Greatest Mode. Then, exhibition mode with all the classic teams, recreating other classic matchups not found in the Greatest Mode. More recently, I've been using Nogster's Superleague roster a little bit, which added classic teams such as the '04 Pistons, '00 Blazers, and '01 Raptors. It's quite fun indeed. As you can imagine though, it's running a bit thin.

While classic teams received the majority of my playing time last year as well, I still very much enjoyed supplementing that with My Player and Association. Further, my favorite way to use classic teams is when they're all apart of a single year (like a 1995 season, for instance). Roster makers have been unable to create such seasons without the ability to freely trade legends (which comes with the DLC Tuesday). So it seems everything's going to be coming together really quickly.
