Week 13 discussion: Rivalry Week

Week 13 kicks off tonight with some MACtion. Miami (OH) at Ohio. This is the week realignment has made terribly sad, as many rivalries come to an end for the foreseeable future, including Texas/Texas A&M and Pitt/West Virginia, two of the oldest rivalries in the nation.

Re: Week 13 discussion: Rivalry Week

May be the last Missouri-Kansas for a while too. The dislike those two schools have for eachother is greater than your average college fan knows. It seems to be over in basketball by all accounts. I don't know if there's interest in continuing in football.

Some new rivalries we have this year are starting up.

Nebraska-Iowa in the Corn Bowl. I kinda like these two being rivals. Nebraska-Colorado never seemed to make that much sense to me to be honest. Colorado just has almost nothing in common with most of the Big 12 schools.

Colorado-Utah, very high quality rivalry...in skiing anyway. I don't know if this will turn into much of a football rivalry, though they were in the same conference a long long time ago. Maybe once Colorado gets back on track and they have some meaningful games, it will build, because these two schools are culturally similar.

BTW, everytime you say "Maction", you owe .05 cents to the Families of Craig James Victims Foundation

it's for a good cause.

I will have my check ready. So I owe 2 cents going back to last week.

Also, if Memphis somehow becomes competent and beats SoMiss, along with Marshall channeling their inner Pennington, and Houston doing what they do, we'll have us a Houston-Marshall CUSA championship, which in my personal opinion, means the Coogs in a BCS bowl.
