So all these players are better mid-range shooters than Kobe?

So according to this game, all of these players are better mid-range shooters than Kobe Bryant:

Zabian Dowdell
Jared Dudley
Luke Ridnour
Wayne Ellington
Raymond Felton
Nick Young
Yi Jianlian
Josh Howard
Jordan Crawford
Luther Head
Marreese Speights
Spender Hawes
Jrue Holiday
Matt Carrol
Gerald Henderson
Dane Cunningham
Tyrus Thomas
DJ Augustin
Drew Gooden
Earl Boykins
Beno Udrih
Luke Harangody
Joey Graham
Christian Eyenga
Anthony Parker
Carlos Arroyo
Nenad Krstic
Jeff Green
Darrel Arthur
Josh Powell
Juwan Howard
Jason Smith
Willie Green
David Andersen
Anthony Morrow
Will Bynum
Demar Derozan

2k sports better inform players, scouts, and coaches in the NBA so that they can adjust their scouting reports accordingly.

I am assuming in 2k13, there will be a few dozen better players with a better dunking rating than Blake Griffin and Gerald Wallace or a few dozen players with a better 3pt rating than Ray Allen, Kyle Korver, and Stephen Curry.

I'm willing to bet that Kobe has better shooting abilities than all of those players. Which instantly makes him more useful because he has more weapons.

Ratings alone aren't everything.

Well you never know, 2K could have some inside information. Just because these players don't shoot as much as Kobe doesn't mean they aren't secretly deadly mid shooters.

Re: So all these players are better mid-range shooters than Kobe?

u have to take ALL things into account. i REALLY get frustrated when people fixate on ONE rating to determine a players ability... i do NOT dispute that 2k grossly misrates players BUT they have given us so many other factors that factor into a players IN-GAME play which is what matters MOST.

people should gauge how the GAME PLAYS a lil more often & not be SO critical of the ratings. if 2 k rated Kobe with ONLY one shot rating &maxed it out, he would NOT play how he plays IRL in the game.

How long did it take you to make that list? I'll set the over/under at 37.5 minutes and take the over. Probably could've figured out something more constructive to do with your time than make a list that doesn't matter, like offer to help one of the dozens of roster makers on this site make a good game better by making realistic rosters. Just a thought.

And I'll take Anthony Morrow in a jump-shooting contest against Kobe everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. His jumper is absolutely money. Basically the only reason he is in the league, and getting rotation minutes to boot. When a player has one skill that not only keeps them in the league but also gets them PT, you can bet it's an elite skill.

Re: So all these players are better mid-range shooters than Kobe?

Checkout his abilities, consistency, otd, sit, and offensive awareness. I was shocked to find that Brandon Jennings mid-range rating is only in the high 60's because I dont have any problem hitting mid-range jumpers with him. His other ratings are at play not only mid-range. On the other hand, Drew Gooden and Ersan IIyasova have low 90's mid range, but dont make every shot because of the other ratings mentioned.

Take somebody like Stephen Jackson who only has a 73 rating in mid-range. Now look at his ability to fadeaway which is rated great. He's very similar to Kobe in the fact that offensively when they get hot they are hard to stop when you put their ablities to use.

Re: So all these players are better mid-range shooters than Kobe?

Rashidi explained this about a month ago.

Kobe's mid is lower because he takes more fade away jumpers and contested shots.

Most of those guys mids are wide open jumpers... If someone contest is or is near them they miss it. I played a few games with the Bucks and Gooden miss 4 out 5 jumpers if a defend is near him but he is money all alone.

SIT plays a roll also plus Kobe takes more close shots anyway...
