The Repetitive Commentary Thread

Guys,

Let's list all the lines of commentary that play way too much. Even if you didn't like the lines because they played in the wrong instance...

I'm sure the devs would be able to address some of these for next year.

In RTTS, everytime i hit a homer in september, matt says "and he continues to hit homers at an alarming rate..." the same way. its gets very annoying

It's not that annoying, but I'd like to hear less of the announcers questioning border-line strike/ball calls. Often they even question pitches that are not all that questionable. If the situation is tight or if it's a pitch at two-strike and/or three-ball count, then it kinda makes sense to point that out, but they don't have to do that almost every other border line pitches in non-critical situations.

Not verbatim but "Sean Rodriguez stung that ball, just like he was stung by a jellyfish. That's right! He was stung by a jellyfish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Since Sean Rodriguez is a member of the Rays, and I'm playing a Rays franchise, I literally have to hear this comment at least once in every game.

Other than that there isn't really much I find exclusively annoying, other than the lines that are just plain inaccurate or illogical.
- "That was almost the same pitch, just in a different place." (Yeah it wasn't the same pitch, then)

- comments about the pitcher melting down and walking guys, or comments about the pitcher needing to be replaced after walking someone - after an intentional walk.

- introducing a player and stating they are playing after "having yesterday off" despite the fact they weren't in the roster yesterday, or aren't a regular player to begin with.

- Sometimes they make comments about a hit being the first hit of the game, when it isn't. I believe they do the same thing for runs, but I can't remember for certain.

etc... I haven't played the game in a few weeks though, so I'll have to pop it in for a few games then come back to this thread.

It actually plays twice a start sometimes.

Every time a created player steps in to hit with RISP. Campbell says "This is an excellent opportunity for a young player to prove himself to his teammates".

Way too often. Plus, not every created player is a "young player".

The Karros line about a team still being dangerous with two outs at the plate seems to play a couple of times each game.

Campbell has a line about pitcher fatigue in April games that plays every time your starter goes into the 7th inning. Something along the lines of that he's surprised the pitcher is still out there, considering it's early April.

Agreed.

The problem with that line of commentary is that it doesn't seem to take pitch count into consideration. I can be going into the 7th with a great pitch count, and it will still play.
