How to bulk up as a skinny guy

As the title says, I was wondering if there are any methods you guys recommend for bulking up.

I'm only 16, and a junior in highschool. I'm also very tall. But it is tough to add weight.

2 weeks ago I started lifting (3 days a week), and I try to drink a 30g protein drink with all 3 meals of the day.

Just wondering if any of you guys have any tips for adding muscle.

Re: How to bulk up as a skinny guy

Just make sure you go to the gym and do what you are supposed to do in the gym and eat. I think when you get too complicated you end up leaving working out behind. I gained 20 lbs of muscle (...and some fat..) during the summer. I was 17 though I have a good body for weight lifting because I am somewhat short and can gain weight at a good rate. But I went from a skinny track kid to ripped. Good luck.

If you are really having trouble then it would probably be best to start getting into the complicated zone because you would be more likely to stop going if you weren't seeing results imo.

But continue to have the protein. If you are going to have it 3x a day...have whey before and after and casein protein at night. I'd also find a good, easy to follow routine for the gym.

Thanks. I think part of my issue is I just go to the gym and do random things instead of having a set routine.

Re: How to bulk up as a skinny guy

Best thing you can do is focus on the big three! Bench, squat and deadlift...don't get fancy with too many isolation movements. U can start pyramiding the weight...say your Max bench is 405... start with a few warmup sets then work in Assyrian of 10,8,6,4 and 2 reps...focus on those reps with the big three. Also focus your workouts around the big three. Bench days could be focused on chest, shoulder and tri's
Squat days would be legs
Deadlift days would be back and bi's
Doing this workout I was benching 360 at 170 pounds and deadlifting 425
You arecypung so eat...eat protein with carbs...protein shakes r good but eat carbs with it!
drink half your body weight in water ...you weigh 160 drink 80 ounces of water ...
Good luck!

Re: How to bulk up as a skinny guy

dang, i was gonna say, "get married and have a kid" (went from 130 to 205 in about a year) but that's the wrong kind of bulk and not the best advice for a 16 year old.
