RTTS Pitcher - Beating cold streaks.

Hey,

I've been playing an RTTS pitcher for a while now. I've noticed, and this was true with the previous version of MLB as well, that there are streaks where it seems I can't do anything right on the mound. I know I'm in one when I can't get out of the first inning without giving up 2+ runs. At that point, I know it's going to be a rough game. During these streaks I've noticed the following:

1. Can't locate fastballs worth a crap despite having 90+ control on all pitches. You'll miss the perfect release marker by a hair and yet the ball will end up off the plate on the complete opposite side you're throwing to.

2. Hitters aren't fooled by balls thrown around the plate (2 seamers running in/out, cutters running in/out) nearly as much as usual. This coupled with poor location = more walks than usual.

3. Hitters absolutely club anything thrown in the strike zone. I'll be giving up back-to-back-to-back doubles or triples.

4. The defense behind you plays like crap. They are making throws over the 1st/2nd baseman's head, or dropping easy plays at a much higher rate than normal making it even harder that you're already having trouble getting guys out.

Anyway, I guess what I'm wanting to know, does anyone have any proven strategies for getting out of this funk. It just seems inevitable that I'll get into at least one 5-6 game stretch where I just can't pitch for anything every season. Any advice would be great!

Thanks.

Re: RTTS Pitcher - Beating cold streaks.

I lost direct references to all these threads, but it looks like you just need to follow the general strategies to pitch well in the game. There are a few good threads earlier in the year that discussed pitching strategies, particularly in late innings to avoid "comebacks" (quoted cuz it's really isn't caused by the game, just how you play), so I'd suggest you search the forum for those...

One thing you definitely need to pay attention is the pitcher confidence as well as the individual pitch confidence. The latter affects the command, so even if you have high control ratings, if you don't throw enough of them for strikes, the command for the pitch remains low, which leads to wildness and meat balls.

Re: RTTS Pitcher - Beating cold streaks.

I know exactly what you're talking abut, talks.

And unfortunately nomos tips don't really translate to well into RTTS mode. It's hard to get pitch confidence up when everything you throw around the plate gets smacked which lowers your confidence more then throwing balls does. Then when you do finally make that out pitch and get the double play ball, it gets booted by you 2B. It's frustrating, but that's baseball.

The only tip I have to keep working through it. Every pitcher faces deadarm periods. I just chalk it up as being part of the game.
