New feature in 2K13

The next step in realism. Just when you're about to make your championship run, the game will lock you out and you'll have to negotiate with 2K about how much more you want to pay to continue your league and what features you will lose. Essentially, 2k will ask you to pay 4 times the purchase price to continue and lose half the game features. They'll negotiate down to only 3.5 times the purchase price and give you three days to decide, or your game will expire. Don't worry though, if you don't want to pay that much and lose half your features you can download the decertify program where you pay 100 microsoft points to your virtual lawyers per day and then after a year you get a 50/50 chance of continuing your game with two bonus features.

That would be terrible. Eerily similar to this thing I was reading about in the paper, something to do with basketball.
