Wheel question

I've been playing racing games since pole position on the 2600 but I've never owned a wheel. I think it's time to get one but I wanted know if there is an advantage in using one over a controller or is it just for show?

It adds to the experience. It gives you more precision in control. In most cases you can really feel the physics of the game at work. It's just plain fun.

Re: Wheel question

I have a Fanatec GT2 wheel with a Playseat Evolution cockpit and Aura Bass Shaker pro subwoofers attached to the frame. I can't imaging playing GT5, F1 2010, and Forza 4 without this setup now! Not only is it a multi-sensual experience, it gives me more car handling feedback and I'm much more competitive with it. I'm a hazard on the track trying to use a controller, but the precision of the wheel allows me to hold lines consistently.

Re: Wheel question

/\ the full on setup is great. Its a totally different experience than using a controller. not a different game, but it is completely different.

Why dont you try grabbing the MS Speed Wheel, and give it a try? I really like the merging of the controller and a wheel in 1. plus you dont have to worry about spending close to $1K on it, or some cheap table clamps with the old MS wheel.
