Auto motion plays

I'm curious to what effect others have when using auto motion plays. I'm wondering because I tend to not have a lot of success unless its an auto motion play that moves the receiver prior to the pass. When using auto motion in the running game, I have trouble knowing just where my blockers are going (specifically where and if there is a double team). So when do you guys like to use auto motion?

out of I formation: pro, HB lead draw automotions the wide reciever in tight, it usually produces good yardage...if you use it in situations where you should anyway.
