My little ways to make NHL 12 feel fresh

Firstly let me state that this post does not pertain to gameplay because I am enjoying the gameplay in 12 so much, it is really fun and noticeably the best yet in the series.

What I am talking about is just some simple things I have done to make the stale elements of the game disappear just a bit. Mainly presentation and overall feel.

Firstly, this year I bought the game for the PS3. Every year previously I purchased EA's hockey titles exclusively on the 360 because I like the controller better on that system. After playing the demo on the 360 I decided making the change to PS3 would make things feel different and to this end it has been a great investment because playing the game on the playstation controller does feel different. Passing and shooting take a bit of adjustment nd I appreciate this.

Secondly I am using the custom camera options to add my own personal 'broadcast' feel to the games. Now I am not talking about the broadcast cam itself because we can't customize that angle. What I am doing is using different custom angles for different contexts during my BaGM.

I am playing as the Minnesota Wild and have a custom angle for all their home games. So when I play at home I use that camera angle exclusively. I change the camera angles when I travel to away games. I have different angles for away division games and away non division games.

It is a small thing but is really helping deliver a new or fresh layer to the overall game experience and the context uniqueness of the different angles adds immersion to my BaGM.

Collectively I am finding switching systems and controllers and customizing the presentation within the limitations provided is helping to make this years iteration feel different in the areas that are getting stale.

Just felt like posting it.

That's a really neat idea actually. The stadium specific camera's in The Show '11 were HUGE for me, and definitely part of the reason I've played the hell out of that game, especially in comparison to '10. I never thought of incorporating something like that into this game, but perhaps I'll give it a shot.

Another thing that makes things feel different/better is making full use of the custom sounds with one some of the packs that you can find right here on OS: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-sounds-forum/

It takes a few hours to download and implement, but it's worth it in the end. It adds a ton to the authenticity of the game with the custom goal horns/songs and intros. Not to mention the fact that you have 512 BIP songs instead of the same 12 or whatever EA Trax that you constantly hear over and over and over again give it some variety.

I used these ones this year. HawkeyMediaPlus did a great job!

That's a nice idea, FR. Will give it a try when I start my NHL season. Tried changing the camera in my current league but the bigger ice limits things a little.

Custom music cannot be underestimated! Always on the lookout for new goal songs.

I also like to play the other competitions in the game and read up about the players and the cities the teams come from. I dream of EA doing a KHL game. Relations have thawed the last while between the NHL and KHL, even before the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl tragedy, so I can't see why they couldn't do it. A few rinks, some rosters and jerseys - money for old rope but sign me up!

Yeah, there must be a huge market for a KHL game.. I can't believe EA hasn't jumped on that yet...

Uhhh, keep dreaming?

How do you go about saving these custom camera angles?

I ask because every time I load my BAP Legend, I have to recreate the custom camera angle. It just will not save.

Do you have to create all 5 camera angles in one shot? Do you have to create these in "Play Now" and save them to your settings?
