smart routes? madden 12

smart routes how do you do them in madden 12 having a hard time figuring it out on the ps3

I play on the 360, but its the same for the PS3. Before the snap, hit Triangle, then the button for the receiver that you want to smart route, then push R3 (the right analog stick in so it clicks).

I'm pretty sure the user above me is correct, but I find it easier to hit up on the d pad, receiver icon, then route.
