NFL 2K Series - The Grass Is Always Greener...

Hey guys,

I just wanted to see where 2K are at with the possibility of a new football game, probably NFL 2K13. Has Take Two had any discussions with the NFL or whoever about their next football game? I just wanted a 2011 update if there is one!

However, with that being said, I personally think the grass is always greener on the other side! I bought an Xbox, NFL 2K5, Action Replat transfer kit. I had the whole deal and thought I'm not going to buy Madden 12 this year, I'll play 2K5 with updated rosters instead.

If I'm honest I couldn't play it. Sure it felt like sim football, I loved that I could add my own music (I chose the NFL on CBS theme music and the NFL on Fox music and a bunch of others) and I like the "crib" idea. But the graphics aren't good, obviously we're talking about graphics from 2004 comparing them to todays graphics of 2011.

But don't you all think that if NFL 2K13 came out and EA Sports didn't release a Madden that year, don't you think you guys would miss Madden?

But I guess you could come back at me and say well look at NBA 2K series and the NBA Live/Elite series. Sure the NBA Elite series has now pretty much died and I love 2K, I never really played or liked Live/Elite whatever you want to call it.

But all of us have played Madden, where with the NBA we had a choice 2K or Live/Elite with the NFL we've had one game for the past 6/7 years. And I love Madden, first NFL game I bought and played was Madden 07, bought it every year since. If they got rid of it, I'd have to say I'd miss it a little.

I think there should be a choice for the people who like 2K and the people who enjoy EA. It didn't work out with the NBA, but why not give it a go with the NFL? I'd buy both copies!

Does anyone see my point though? If Madden got killed off, I think I'd miss it and I think a lot of people would. We're all hyping up the next NFL 2K game but they had the chance to make All Pro 2K8 a good game, show new feature, new graphics but instead they stuck with virtually the same stuff from 2K5 it seemed. I think it'd be the same thing, if Madden died and we had NFL 2K13, I imagine a lot of users would come online and say "when are we going to get another Madden game? Will we ever see another Madden game?". So I think the grass is always greener on the other side!

What do you guys think?

IMO, while Madden has made some strides, it has never been as good as 2K Sports football games. Even APF 2K8 was better than any Madden game to date.

I don't want Madden to cease, however, if 2K started making NFL football games again. Competition breeds better games.

That said, if 2K made a new NFL game that was anywhere near as good as 2K5, I wouldn't buy Madden ever again, probably.

Madden will never stop whether u like it or not. 2k sports will not be in the NFL football genre for a while so u can stop daydreaming.

In what part of my post did you read that I want Madden to stop? In fact, I specifically stated that I don't want it to stop.

I haven't enjoyed a Madden title since 2003, and I used to play NBA Live constantly. I wouldn't miss Madden anymore than I miss Live, which is none at all. That doesn't even make sense... you might have nostalgia attached to a certain brand, but to stay with that brand while it makes inferior products is lunacy.

I actually think at this point a year off is what Madden needs. They need to get their staff settled first with the departures of Ian and Phil. They need a clear leader to take control again and give this game a clear vision and direction to aim toward. At this point they need an entire year just to fix all the glitches, magnet balls, magnet blocking, etc. ,etc......etc. Then once they get all that figured out they can focus on improving franchise, maybe new modes. And speaking of modes, it's time Madden decides the fate of Superstar mode. Either they put legit work into it, or they drop it altogether. Look at where EVERY other sport has gone with career modes, NBA 2K, The Show, NHL, then you look at Madden, and it's all too clear that it is lagging miles behind any of those. Either start working your mode towards the levels of those games, or just dump it, because there is no use in continuously putting out a 'D' product when everyone else is at an 'A' or 'B' level. Pretend to care about your product...
