The Big East Conference to add: Kansas, Kansas State & Missouri?

Speculation:

Big East Still Considering Becoming Even Bigger
Quote:
With the Big 12 potentially on the verge of collapse, the Big East Conference is once again looking at becoming still bigger.

According to multiple reports, the Big East is considering adding Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri should the Big 12 falter. That, in turn, would bring the Big East to 12 football teams and 20 — that’s right, 20, — basketball teams. (TCU joins the league in 2012.)
Quote:
Under that scenario, the league would have two 7-team divisions, with Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Cincinnati, Louisville and TCU in the West Division, and UConn, Rutgers, Syracuse, Pitt, South Florida and West Virginia in the East, the Post reported.

The division winners would meet in a conference championship game, similar to what the SEC and other leagues now have.

The huge basketball league would then have four five-team divisions. Each team would play a home-and-home with every team in its division, plus crossover games with teams in other divisions. Some teams would not play other teams in a given year.
Big East Expanding, Again?

Thoughts?

I don`t think this would be surprising at all if the Big 12 falls apart. I also saw somewhere else where Baylor could possibly also end up in the Big East.

Pretty soon, half of D1 college basketball teams will call the Big East their home. That would make 20 teams if no basketball-only schools were dropped...

Doubt it, but down the road, I could see a super conference of ACC/Big East schools coming together.

Re: The Big East Conference to add: Kansas, Kansas State & Missouri?

don't see this as any other kind of speculation out there, the big east has already said they would be a soft landing for just about any Big 12 team. The Big East needs to be proactive right now, they need to be strong enough to stave off the ACC. The Big East cannot stave off the Big Ten or the SEC but if they are proactive they can easily become a more desirable conferance than the ACC.

Syracuse, Pitt, and Rutgers could be potential Big Ten suitors, WVU to the SEC, any BEC team to the ACC. Why the BEC is not proactive right now is now is beyond me, they need to add quality teams to make the BEC more desirable than the ACC which is not only desirable but possible for the ACC

Syracuse & Pitt applied for membership in the ACC; Likely goners

Quote:
On Saturday, Brett McMurphy of CBSSports.com, citing high-ranking officials from both leagues, reported that Big East basketball powers Syracuse and Pittsburgh are “likely gone” to the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Both schools have applied for membership to the ACC, and could be accepted by the ACC Presidents as soon as Sunday, Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com tweeted.

“You don’t apply unless you want to do it,” a source close to the Syracuse basketball program told SNY.tv.

All of this football crap is killing college basketball tradition. How do you have a Big East conference without Syracuse, Pitt, Uconn? I take it that the BE will know go after Kansas and Baylor? Smh.
