I played about 200 games in net last year with close to a .900sv% Here is what worked for me.

Stay centered on the arrow. Hold L1 (precision movement) and DO NOT drift out of the net.

Always hug the posts when the puck is in either corner. You don't want to get beat shortside. I believe pushing the right stick right, will raise your shoulder up and block the entire side.

When I'm in net and I see a 2 on 1 or even a 2 on 0, I usually guess pass at the last minute. Usually they try and score like they would on a CPU goalie by going wide, you have to take that away.

On breakaways, I almost always charge the player head on and poke check him. Human goalies have a huge advantage on breakaways if you're good, because you can't glitch goal them.

Basically, it's a guessing game. STAY IN POSITION is key, but try and read what the player is doing against you. Sometimes you have to cheat a little to the forehand on wrist shots, I always cut the angle as much as I can.

Honestly, as long as you stay centered in the net for the most part and don't find yourself drifting way off the posts, you should do pretty well. Like any other position, practice makes perfect. Good luck.

Using the arrow is a giant crutch........and shouldn`t even be able to be used for All Star or Super Star difficulty levels.

Yeah, well this guy is just learning, so it's not a crutch, it's a learning tool. My point is you need to always be between he puck and the net and sometimes you simply have to guess on 2 on 1's or 2 on 0's.

Playing goalie is really fun in this game (in the demo at least). Really nice to have the AI actually shoot the puck, and not stand there for 45 seconds and then take a shot. Might do a goalie BAP this year

Re: I need goalie advice please

Hey hey, ive played a decent amount of goalie in 11.

.901 SP 1.5 GAA somewhere around 500 goalie games.

Like the guy above said just try to stay square to the puck as much as possible, and making sure your short side is closed is always key. I try not to bite over as a goalie until a pass is actually made. Some of it you just have to rely on your defencemen. You cant be expected to make open cross crease saves all day.

I play a little different than most goalies as well. Alot of goalies try to stay deep in the net, but i like to play aggressively when the puck is anywhere deeper then the slot. It helps a ton with tips and screens.

Try not to be to figgity. Thats a big issue too. For quick passes across the crease when you really have to move laterally, i like to use the hug post to get across alot quicker. If you can master that you'll end up making some huge saves.

On breakaways I always fake going for the diving poke check and then react on the shooter after that, but thats something I do. The diving poke check seems to be effective too.

Mess with your goalies agility and speed stats till you find a mix to your liking. Try to have high vision stats, somewhere in the 90's and a rebound control somewhere in the low 80's. I keep mine in 80 specifically. The reason being with high rebound control the puck will rebound close to you and makes for some unlucky garbage goals alot of the time. If its in the 80's you can kick pucks into corners and it just generally puts the puck in less vulnerable spots after a save.

I personally dont use the precision control. I was never a fan.

Other than that just practice and time really. Alot of it is getting in tune with your d-men. You can only really be so good if they arent helping.

so i tried to play as a goalie (in the Demo) on BAP but it only
lets u create a C right? So i have to go Play Now in order to get some
work in right? Dont have my copy of 11 anymore (long story) or Id go in there.
Thanks again fellas for the help.

Yep, either Play Now or HUT. You can position lock goalie on either.
