Statistically or the realism of the interface itself?

Statistically, I don't know as I only use zone but I get realistic stats with it. But, zone is the most realistic interface.

Zone: you have to locate the pitch both horizontally and vertically while swinging with the right timing.

Analog: you have to only locate the horizontal location of the pitch and have proper swing timing.

Timing: you don't have to locate the pitch whatsoever and you only have to time you swing. It's as realistic as playing an old NES/SNES baseball game like RBI Baseball.

I have jumped around with all 3.

For some reason, I enjoy Analog in RRTS, and Timing in Franchise, and I will mess around with Zone in Exhibition games. I get decent results, and they are the offer the most fun for me in those modes(which is most important to me).

I keep going back and forth on this and with the analog zone hitting in MLB 12 that seems like it might be the way to go.

The only problem is that I strike out all the time and its often due to the fact that I'm late on pitches. I might be over thinking this but doesn't it seem like pressing a button to hit would be quicker (just barely, but it would help) than pushing up on the analog stick when its in the down position? Also, you don't have to worry about your stride with zone hitting.

I certainly feel this has been the case in 11. Personally, not due to the fact that you need to stride with Pure Analog though.

Analog for sure for me. I still play a lot of hardball in real life and the way they implimented the stride timing needed plus pitch recognition is phenominal in The Show 11. Very rewarding and interactive system.

Re: Hitting: Timing, Analog, or Zone?

Statistically, it's Timing as long as your own timing is good enough. That's because the PCI (your aim, in other words) is entirely stats-driven in Timing mode. It's the mode with the least amount of human interaction and therefore closest to how the AI itself hits.

But that's not to say that the other modes can't be realistic - it's all about finding the right difficulty and sliders that work for you. The other modes can certainly be more rewarding than timing since you have to work a lot harder to use them well.
