NHL 12: Legend Snubs

First of all I have to say I think they did a great job with the 9 legends in the game. Börje Salming is the only soft spot but only because he does have the same star power as the rest. However, with that being said, we all have some names we wished were in the game this year. Here are some of mine.

Brett Hull - 1269 Games, 741 Goals, 650 Assist; 2 Stanley Cups

Brett Hull seems to be an easy pick, hell anyone with more points then games played should be. 8 time All-Star, 3rd all-time in goals, 2 Stanley Cups, hell they even put his one knee slap shot in the game. Hell why not Bobby Hull too?

Joe Sakic - 1378 Games, 625 Goals, 1016 Assist; 2 Stanley Cups

Like Yzerman, Sakic is one of the great captains in NHL history. 13 time All-Star, 8th all-time in points and Mr. Clutch in the playoffs with 8 overtime game winners, the most in NHL history.

Maurice "The Rocket" Richard - 978 Games, 544 Goals, 421 Assist; 8 Stanley Cups

The king of 'firsts', Maurice Richard was the first to score 500 goals in a career, first to score 50 goals in a season, and led the league in goals five times. Richard also led the Canadians to 8 Stanley Cups in 18 seasons.

Mark Messier - 1756 Games 694 Goals 1193 Assist; 6 Stanley Cups

Messier was a fantastic player and even better leader. A two-time MVP, he ranks only behind Wayne Gretzky in scoring.

What snubs do you think should be added to this list?

Ha reading these posts makes me realize what a joke this whole legends feature is. Only 12? there are like 50 you could put in.

All I can guess is Orr and Messier weren't interested, there's no way any sane person would leave them out on purpose..

Forsberg. Doesn't have the numbers of a lot of other players due to injury, but in his prime there was no one like him.

I think his injury problems is what halted him from being a legend iso a really great player. But even with those injuries, he got some amazing numbers; Only 859 games - 1056 pts
Only Gretzky, Lemieux and Orr has more assists-per-game.

Speaking of Swedes, Nick Lidström (41) is imo already a legend, but since he's still in the Wings we don't need him there yet. But four Stanley Cups, seven James Norris , eleven NHL All-Star Games, the first European-born and trained NHL captain to win the SC, first European player playoff MVP.
The year he leaves NHL, that guy is sure to be on the "Legends" roster.

Other europeans; Jari Kurri, Pavel Bure and Viacheslav Fetisov. The latter though probably had his best years before joining the NHL (at age 31)... which could also be said about the three stooges from the Soviet "KLM line"; Krutov, Larionov and Makarov.

And of course, the Hanson brothers. They should be in the game.
