Done with '12 because of absurd dynasty firing

Really, just unbelievable. I'm a Michigan fan, seems like a good year to play with them. Just finished my third year of the dynasty. I went

9-4
10-3
10-3

Won all three bowl games, had a winning record against rivals all three years, finished the last two seasons in the top ten, had the number one recruiting class one year, met 11 goals, failed 4 goals which were all worth 1 negative mark. Job security was 67%.

Totally absurd. Of course, I was never anticipating this so I don't have a save to go back to besides last year .. as soon as I saw "You're fired" I turned it off but no matter, it saves before it tells you. HILARIOUS. All the work I put in, playing like forty games with 9 minute quarters, recruiting, getting excited about finally having the guys I recruited make up my team, etc. And it's all over before it starts thanks to the stupidest firing algorithm I've ever seen in my life.

So, I'm done. Be warned. Use coaching carousel at your own risk. Save before you advance after your bowl game, if that makes a difference, I dunno. It's a fun part of the game, but it's obviously broken as a joke.

Given Michigan's recent run, you'd think even a 9 win season would be good enough. But, weirder things have happened in real life. Nebraska fired Frank Solich after I believe a 9 win season. Obviously you wouldn't expect it, but it has happened. But because you had a good record as a coach, maybe some other big program would pick you up?

I don't know, I'm going through the "carousel" thing for the first time now. It's pretty strange, but it looks like I'm definitely moving down. I do really think I'm done with this game, at least for a long time, and usually it only gets one binge out of me per year. Just really frustrating.

Something that maybe hurts Michigan specifically is that there are a high prestige program (still 5 stars despite bad recent records), and they have a new coach which has very low prestige. I don't know how this factors in. But no, I don't think anything stranger has EVER happened in real life that what I just saw. Can you imagine Brady Hoke posting those records, finishing in the top ten twice in three years, winning 3 bowl games getting fired as quickly as rich rod did?

Moral might be that if you want to be Michigan, turn off the carousel omg. But I dunno if others had the same experience. I know it pays to be careful and save a lot, but really, based on previous versions of this game, it seemed inconceivable that I could be fired.

Re: Done with '12 because of absurd dynasty firing

Here we go, my first offer was...

Defensive Coordinator at Pittsburgh! ROFL! A three star school that just went 6-7 is offering me their DC job!

For some reason I have D+ prestige, while others like my offensive coordinator, for example, is A+ and came up for the MIchigan job. So I'll decline this and see what the best HC job I can get is..

OC at Indiana! No thanks...

OC at Kent State! Um, no..

Nothing for a HC position in unexpected jobs, either, just some coordinator ships..

I skip a few more..

I'm giving up after about six more. Currently being offered a DC position at Baylor, 2 star school which just went 4-8. ROFLMAO. I can't get a head coaching job anywhere in the country after my three years at Michigan. Maybe it's because my coach is black?

You must have pissed off some boosters.

It's unfortunate, but roll with it and have some fun.

Every dynasty is a chance to create your unique story.

You're the guy who got run out of town due to politics. Move your way back up the ranks and take over another school and then beat down on Michigan to return the favor.

Then call up Hollywood and tell them you've got a helluva story.

Good.

This kind of stuff should at least be possible. You knew what the goals where when you took the job, didn't meet all of them and they decided to go with someone else. It's not what happened to you is an impossibility, it could happen IRL.

Usually I'd expect EA to be far too lenient and make the game go out of it's way to NOT fire people. Nice to see that you can move up and down in the coaching ranks.

And good for the game auto-saving right before so you can't go back and change it. That's lame.

How many goals did you fail?
