Runners on 1st/3rd: I want the runner on 1st to steal 2nd

Hmmm, don't you press the Left stick right and hold triangle. That's how I do it anyways. Left stick points to the runner you want to send, the buttons correspond to the base you want him to head to.

What you are describing is an early steal and he was describing a cued steal.

ahh, even I didn't know how to do that. lol I always steal manually.

Depends on what baserunning mode you are using, but for 'classic': hold down L2 and move the right stick to the right (1st base)... meaning, you are selecting which runner you want to attempt to steal.
