Conference Ideas?

I wanted to get everyone's ideas for conferences in Dynasty Mode.

A few ideas I had:

- Notre Dame to the Big East
- BYU to the PAC12
- TCU to the Big East (actually going to happen anyways)
- Penn State to the Big East (I'm from PA and would love Pitt/PSU rivalry every year)
- Boise State to the PAC12

Really I'm looking for anything that makes sense logistically. Like for example, I don't want to put USC in the Big Ten. Plus, I don't want to leave the smaller conferences completely depleted.

Re: Conference Ideas?

Billy ,

I am using Pogo's conference ideas. Currently his is on pg 4. I'm not as savy to be able to post it like ^^^^.lol. Those are good, or I believe its page 10 of the link above where someone created "super" conferences with 16 teams each in them. Those are my fall back. Pogos are really geographically formed if you ask me. The only thing different I did was put AF and Navy and Army in the independants. Hope this helps.

Re: Conference Ideas?

I made quite a few changes. Mostly, to help space out the ACC teams I like to use. I use 12 teams in my dynasty. Major changes:
Georgia Tech to SEC West
Maryland to Big East
TCU to Big 12 South
ND, Missouri to Big Ten
Moved just about every team in Florida to the ACC. Moved almost every team in Texas to the Big 12. Army to Conference USA. Navy to Big East. BYU had to stay Independent because you are not allowed to kill a "conference". Other conferences can not go below 4 teams.

Re: Conference Ideas?

I decided that since they allowed us so much flexibility that I might try my hand at the rumored “Super Conferences”. So I grabbed the team grades (from original rosters, haven’t had the time to base this off an updated roster file) and assigned a number value for offense, defense, special teams and for. The scores were then given a percentile value (how they compare to all other teams) and then I gave weight each attribute. This produces a score on a 100% scale. I then took the 80 highest scoring teams and regionally grouped them into the Big East, Big 10, Big 12, SEC and Pac 12. I used the same team scoring system to then determine the divisions.
A purist (or an ACC fan) will likely not care for this approach but many of the traditional teams remained in their usual conferences while other current BCS AQ schools got relegated to the non-BCS ranks

The conferences are pretty balanced. The SEC is still the best and the Big East is still the bottom but it isn't a terrible gap. I set the these five conferences as the only automatic BCS qualifiers and they have no bowl tie-ins.

Oh, the game would not allow me to empty out the independent schools, which I had originally hoped, so Army remains as the sole independent. I believe I originally had them slotted for C-USA.

That's what I am going to do in my dynasty whenever I get it rolling. I'm editing coaches and playbooks right now.
