will all the cpu players pass like GRETZKY in nhl 12 ??

CPU players pass like Gretzky on STEROIDS from nhl 08 to nhl 11 (except one tuner set in nhl 09, but that too disappeared with the 2nd tuner) ,.....and from the looks of gameplay videos, the cpu will still pass like this in NHL 12. And yes...I zeroed pass accuracy slider for the CPU in all of my games....makes zero difference.

come on now.

the game is just too clean....they say they are working on signature traits, but from every video I've watched, I just don't see stray passes. I don't mean when the cpu passes, you intercept it, I mean where the cpu passes and it misses everybody's stick. Even the best playmakers/passers in the history of the NHL ( gretzky, oates, Lemieux etc).....they don't hit their target once in a while and actually MISS everybody's stick.

In nhl 11, the worst players don't miss their passes. They might be intercepted, but if there is no one between them and the puck receiver, the pass will hit the target.

No amount of signature traits, player types, etc will make any difference to me if this problem still occurs. Why even create a playmaker type or have one on your team? there is no point.....everyone can pass the same....I'll trade Claude Giroux for a player lower rated than him and who shoots harder and he will do more for me.

I'm checking out videos for nhl 12, and it just bothers me to the core.....aren't we the realistic crowd here in OS?

While the game could definitely be a little more "sloppy" I think its a stretch to sat that there is no difference if you zero-out the CPU pass accuracy sliders.

I did this and it was almost too much. I saw countless passes (by the CPU) miss and go for icing. I think I played NHL 11 with CPU pass accuracy at 1.

This, I have no big issues with this at all. Especially if you as a player are physical and get the cpu off it's game. Maybe I just found lucky sliders but the game plays great for me with pass accuracy set to 0.

The AI does need to get better though, hopefully this has been addressed.

Yep...it really does seem to make a difference if you get real physical with the cpu. I also have the pass ACC set at zero. And like you RealmK...the game plays quite well for me with that setting. But [there's always a but] I wouldn't mind if the zero setting was at least a bit more effective.

Absolutely, just as you mentioned a few checks, or late in the game/periods when players are tired/off game I get a lot of missed passes and icing pucks from the CPU.

I would say though that like most sliders, they don't have enough span.
In my world any slider and 0 or 1 would have a really big effect.
Setting the sliders at "medium" should produce real world passing, a few misses here and there. With the sliders at 0 or 1, it should be pee-wee hockey.

But again, I also use the setting at 1, and it works great for me.
Remember as mentioned this is affected by how you get the CPU off its game, and also the fatigue sliders and period length*

* I changed my periods from have been playing 7 minute periods for a long time, to 9 minutes.
No other sliders changes at all, but the game changed completely... more missed passes, players falling down shots off target and whatnot.
All the stuff that real players do when they are tired or intimidated.

The CPU will miss some passes, yes. The problem IMO is there doesn't appear to be any actual corrolation between CPU passing ratings versus individual skill. It's as if the missed passes are randomly coded in for effect. Watch for example when the CPU kicks into gear and puts pressure on. Suddenly every player on the team is a Gretzky or Getzlaf or Henrik Sedin with their tic tac toe laser-passing skills. Completely unrealistic, and I believe that's the sort of thing phillyfan is alluding to with his "aren't we the realistic crowd here in OS?" comment.

Re: will all the cpu players pass like GRETZKY in nhl 12 ??

I've tried zero pass accuracy with the CHL'ers and holy mac, it was terrible. It was an icing fest all game long. With NHL'ers, it was not as bad, but still, there was a difference in passing than what I saw at 3 or 4 click.

In BaP, passing from your CPU teamates is horrible. I'm not a pass-asking addict, but when you're out on an island and the CPU is unable to swing you a pass in the same area code you are, there's a problem.

Then again, maybe it was just me since most people find the AI ok in this game!

Do all your posts imply you're the only one around here smart enough to see flaws in the AI or does it just seem that way? Honestly, it's getting quite old.
