Tips to make your association more fun (fantasy draft)
Make your own teams by trading and free agent signings (time consuming)...lemme explain (long read)
I think playing against the same nba teams, for the most part, is kinda boring. So i usually do fantasy drafts, but even then it isn't that much better. A lot of teams have the same kind of players. I played 2k9 then 2k11 and i noticed some teams were fun to play against. in 2k9 there was a team w/ a backcourt of iverson and dwill. in my first association with 2k11 (messed up the playoff format so had to start a new one) the raptors had bargs and green at pf/c, and jennings/lou williams at pg/sg. Having teams like that make things interesting, instead of the same boring format (2 good wings, shot blocking center, average pg).
When i made my new association i wanted teams to be different from each other, some dominant teams, some good/bad teams, etc. So I firgued the only way to make this perfect would be to make the teams myself. So here's what i did
First i look at all the teams and see which teams i wanna keep in tact. For example, there was a team with horford, nene, lowry, and martin. i decided to keep them on that team and made a few changes. If you dont wanna make changes that's ok, but i made changes to literally every team.
After that i started the long, grueling, excruciating, mind numbing process of trading players to teams i wanted them to be in. I turned the raptors into the team they were with my first association (bargs, shard, lou williams, jennings). Some teams i made similar to the real life teams. I have kobe, pau, artest on the lakers, bron on the heat, cp3 and west with noh, dirk with the mavs. But the other players on the team are different of corse. It can make the game more fun since the plays for teams are designed for the real life players, but the supporting role players are different.
Another thing i did was probably because of a bug/glitch in the game. By mistake i found out that i can sign free agents to other teams. To do this, I first went to the roster page of the team, lets say knicks roster page. Then go to the free agent page - i forget if i pressed the B (back) button or i used the analog stick to go through all the menus again. Once i get to the free agent page, i sign a free agent, and it says that i signed him to whichever team's roster page i was on. i think the bug was fixed cause i cant do this anymore (the easier way to do this would be to resign your position then go to another team and sign free agents)
anyway, you can start trading the key rotation players to the teams you want, then fill out the bench warmers, or you can do one team at a time. i wanted to get it done fast so i used 4 team trades. if it gets too complicated for you, just do 2 team trades.
another thing, you're gonna have to spend even more time adjusting the player salaries. some guys have salaries at 30mil, made it imposisble to move. i did a few things for that.
this took me about a month to finsih. i didnt work on this everyday, i was inconsistent. it's takes a lot of time to finish. there were times i wanted to bash my head in the keyboard till i pass out lol j/k. i do have realistic teams. some run n gun style, others pound the paint, some defensive or offensive, balanced teams, etc. one team has 3 pfs starting - odom, milsap, and maxiel, with maxiel starting center. he is too short for that but it makes things interesting.
i think this is a good idea if you're bored of the real nba teams or dont like the computer fantasy draft. you're gonna need a lot of free time. this can get SOOOOO ****IN BORING IT'S UNBEARABLE! i dunno how people do those roster/slider things like kg rosters or purist sliders, but my ****in god that **** must kill them inside lol. but with 2k11 being the best basketball game ever, it is worth it.
if you guys think it's a good idea and need help lemme know. i can give you some of the teams i made up.
