College Football Superlatives

This thread is to get some suggestions for the best in college football at various skills. Should be a good tool for roster makers.

How has the best arm now that Mallet is gone (THP)?

How are the fastest players behind Demps?

Who are the fastest at each position? WR? LB? CB? S?

Most elusive?

Hardest hitters?

Any players who should have really high JMP ratings? Justin Hunter of Tennessee comes to mind.

Best pass rushers?

Run stoppers?

Man/Zone CBs?

Let's get a good, civil discussion going.

I doubt Smith is even faster than UGA recruit Justin Scott-Wesley.

But I'd go with Luther Ambrose of ULM - ran the 100m in 10.12 seconds... He's worth a 98 speed on the game, with ACC to match.

Randall Carroll of UCLA probably needs a 99 speed, but with a lower acceleration (more impressive 200m than 100m). Still, we're talking 95 ACC, I think. Or, if you think speed should match the 100m, it should be closer to 96.

Skye Dawson of TCU should get a 95, IMO.

TJ Graham of NC State needs 95 or 96 with high ACC.

Same for Miami's Travis Benjamin.

Denard Robinson should be up around 95 with high ACC.

I just can't buy Branden Smith as being nearly as fast as any of these guys. He's fast, but he's not an NCAA sprinter.

Re: College Football Superlatives

I'll get a list together for THP. Last year was pretty easy: Mallet had the strongest arm in a few years and was an easy 97-98 THP. Locker also had a very strong arm. This year's QBs may be harder to sort through.

In no particular order, here are some candidates for 90+ THP:

Andrew Luck
Zach Mettenberger
Brandon Weeden
Randall Mackey (Ole Miss)
Jeff Driskel
Tyler Bray
Paul Jones
Matt Barkley
Tom Savage
Aaron Murray
Rob Bolden
Devin Gardner
Robert Marve
Denard Robinson
Landry Jones
Ryan Lindley
Ryan Katz
EJ Manuel
Logan Thomas
Connor Wood
Mike Glennon
Mark Myers (Pitt)
BJ Daniels
Dayne Crist
Andrew Hendrix

I don't agree with 99 speed for Randall Carroll... here are his best times: PR of 10.3 in the 100m, PR of 20.91 in the 200m.

Those times are both really fast, but the 100m time by itself isn't worthy of a 99 speed, and I don't think the 200m time is either.

The deal breaker for me is that he has actually regressed a LOT in college. The best 100m he's run in college is 10.58. The best 200m he's run in college is 21.41.

To highlight my point even more, his track times for this year (that I could find) are 10.87 for the 100m and 23.09 for the 200m. Those aren't even elite level times. The fact is that he hasn't posted anything near his high school times in a while now... whereas a TRUE 99 speed like Jeff Demps is still at the same speed or arguably faster.

I'm curious to know where you would rank 2 of USC's faster players:

Robert Woods, PR of 21.04 in the 200m, didn't run the 100m as far as I can tell
George Farmer, PR of 10.4 in the 100m, PR of 21.22 in the 200m
