Positional Hoarding

Playing RTTS and i'm about to finish my second year, i was going through the rosters and just checking on the progression of players, player movement/trades etc and i noticed something very strange...

The Atlanta Braves had 8 Closers on their roster, all of them between 20-26 years old and all of them A or B potential... That is a serious amount of talent hoarding to do in one year...

Anyone else seen anything like this in RTTS or Franchise???

Re: Positional Hoarding

Is their trade block and/or scouting focus screen set to CP(closing pitchers)? If it is, the team would acquire more closers.

Yes, I see it...enough, in Franchise.

While some teams basically have a C-pot. AAA prospect starting 1b in the MLB, another team will have Votto, Konerko, and Adrian Gonzalez AND an A-pot. prospect all at 1b.

I've seen the same thing as you, also. One team full of high potential closers.
The question really isn't why do they have so many HIGH RATED closers as it is why do they so many closers, period.

Re: Positional Hoarding

I personally love to hoard closers in my Franchise. I currently have 3 CP's on my MLB roster and a 4th with A potential as the best player on my AAA roster.

I think of them less as 'closers' and more as highly rated high leverage relief pitchers. I'd rather have 3 good closer-quality pitchers than some middle relief chuckle-heads. As long as the rating is right, I basically consider CP and RP the same position

I'm a huge Braves fan and ironically the Braves are known in real life for hoarding pitching talent. They got TONS of minor league talent that could easily be pitching on MLB rosters. They grow a majority of their pitching prospects in the minors system (Brandon Beachy, Mike Minor, Tehran, Kimbrel, Tommy Hanson..They just drafted Kimbrel's brother, who is another pitching talent. It may just be a coincidence but at least it's realistic (referring to the Braves, for that matter).

I could understand if it was some starters and a few closers, but they have 8 closers, 17 Relievers (not all prospects but in total), and 18 starters (total)...

I've seen other threads like this one, that deal with the AI's handling of rosters.

It's pretty clear this area needs some work.

In my RTTS I am a SS with the Reds. First year they make a big trade, which leads to a bunch of roster shuffling. I get called up to AAA and am the only SS on the roster, yet I'm on the bench, with CF Fred Lewis in the lineup as the starting SS.

And when you factor in players getting tired too easily over the course of a season...

Yeah, this could use some attention.
