Hitting Tips For A Real Noob?

This is my first baseball game ever, but I'm not doing too bad in the pitching department, but hitting is a different story. Anyone got any basic tips that should help me?

All help will be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: This is on PC too.

Try altering your hitting settings so it's super easy for you. Nothing is more frustrating than not getting hits and trying to play on all-star or whatever.

There's also classic hitting more which is easy and I think more fun. You can always try that. See ball, hit ball.

My $0.02: Take a lot of pitches. This not only gives you a better "feel", but you'll be much more successful when you can work a hitter's count like 2-0 or 3-1. At that point, you're in a better position to sit on a fastball and use a power swing to drive the ball.

I often take one or two strikes before I even think about swinging.

This goes with the last post - turn up the batters eye by a few points. It will make it easier for you to time pitches and judge what to swing at.

Wait for your batter to take his stride then swing (push forward for contact hitters) (pull back and push forward for power hitters) (left and right to foul off balls) the key is timing and being patient for your batters stride

I agree 100%. In fact, I would go a step further and max the batter's eye out at first. Do that and, like someone else already mentioned, force yourself to take pitches. Take the first pitch at least (preferably the first two) and don't swing until you have a strike on you.

You'll see what every pitch is, how it breaks, and get a feel for the change in speeds, etc. Once you're comfortable with your timing and vision, tune the batter's eye down to whatever you would normally set it on. I did this with my son and he's been able to pick up some pitches by their break and speed when he watches me play.

This game does a pretty good job of pitching to your approach at the plate, so once you get to where you approach ABs with some patience, you'll definitely see the benefits.

I use classic batting with batters eye on. My advise is to use classic batting with batters eye on and put the pitchers head in the batters circle every time and you will not only be able to judge pitches better but you will get more field hits and less ground hits, also it works really well on judging steals better.

As far as how high you turn it up. just making it any higher then your contact isn't going to make you hit it any better. I have played this game since it came out and not once have I ever hit a home run when the circle lit up.

Just my 2 cents
