New to NBA 2k and the game of basketball in general. Will I enjoy this game?

I am not a basketball fan in the sense of following the game, knowing the players or what each team plays like. In fact you could say, I am an absolute noob when it comes to basketball.

BUT, I recently started watching the playoffs and love it. I can appreciate the beauty of a good pass, a clever movement or a difficult shot, so much so that I am thinking of picking up 2k11.

Would you say I would enjoy the game, given I know nothing about defence strategies, signature moves or which player is supposed to be good at shooting and which at dribbling, etc.?

In other words, is this an enjoyable game from a noob's perpective or do I have to have a deeper understanding of the game and its subtleties to enjoy it?

I played this game non-stop from the demo until recently cuz I burnt myself out playing it so much so yes you should enjoy it

I suggest you try the demo, so you get the feel. It may be a pick up and play game if you play with the default settings (which you can edit to be even more of a pick up and play style of game), but if you are really into just playing without too much around it I suggest you try the other brand. I haven't played Live 10, but Live 08 and 09 (which I have played) are pretty easy to pick and play. The only problem with the older Lives is finding current roster updates (for Live 08 and 09).

It's a deep title, so you'll get out of it what you put into it...

I'd start on rookie level with either default or casual level sliders to get used to running plays and understanding player movement on O and D...
