NCAA 2012 and blocking

Are there going to be any gameplay updates to blocking? I have heard some mention of it, but nothing definitive.

I just want some semblance to real life blocking.

Any information would be appreciated.

I'll keep saying it over and over. The offensive and defensive line interactions would be much smoother without the swim move. I would like to see ratings matter much more in the outcome of the line battles.

Remove the swim move and you have a much better game in terms of line play.

I agree cause the swim move is such an automatic thing.

Re: NCAA 2012 and blocking

I, for one, dont see the swim move as a problem (are yall speaking of the new bullrush animation?). OL/DL interaction made a much needed improvement this year, with Run blocking and Option blocking. But they need to be improved. With Option Blocking implemented this year, the only thing it was missing was the inside zone option blocking schemes to leave the inside defensive lineman unblocked.

I've written EA through their Feedback Email about this and I hope it gets fixed but what Im reading from Community Day guys is that this is something that the developers chose not to implement because casual gamers wouldn't understand the blocking schemes. I understand that dilemma and this is why I usually side with the guys who adamantly ask for the Difficulty settings to reflect realness of the game including blocking schemes.

An easy fix is to do like it was done last year with the "Hype videos" and explain how the plays are blocked or provide it as a "quick tips" at the bottom of the screen. I exclusively use the flexbone playbooks and trying to use a base play like Flexbone Midline Iso, where the playside Defensive Tackle goes unblocked, is so ham-fisted that its ridiculous. The play is broken and Im just hoping that EA can fix it.

Re: NCAA 2012 and blocking

If they're worried about casual gamers not knowing the blocking schemes, why don't they link the tutorial videos to a button on the playcall screen?

So, let's say someone highlights a read option play in the playcall screen, above the diagram there would be a prompt to open a tutorial video (have it be L1 or something). Pressing this would open a tutorial video with Herbstreit explaining how read options work. You could have videos explaining screens, options, jet sweeps, draws, etc. You could even have videos on defense that explain the different coverages and blitzing schemes. Not only can you implement a greater degree of realism without leaving the casual gamers behind, but you can teach the sport to a new group of people. You might end up creating more business for yourself by getting some of those casual fans more engaged with the sport. The more invested someone is in football, the more likely they are to buy a football game every year. At least, that's my theory.

Line play needs a little shine. Bump for shine!!!

also I just want realistic time behind the pocket... not Brady time behind the pocket for everyone LOL!

Wasn't there an article a long time ago that said if they made the line play too realistic that you would have less than 3 seconds to get rid of the ball like in real life play?

That article was BS. Who nobody would complain about consistent line play.
