Nobody wants create a play?

so all the talk this year is about create a playbook and i got excited until i figured out you could only pick formations and plays. I never hear a lot of people wanting create a play though, even though it sounds like that should be automatic when you add this feature. I used to love creating a play in madden on the ps2 and even though you could tell that from the player's spacing that the play/formation was not real, it was still fun to do. I want the option to create a play/formation in this game. I just got the idea that it would be online like teambuilder so it could be more versatile and you just download it to your system.
  • If they were to do it in the next game, they should give you the ability to start a new formation from an existing one or completely from scratch, and the same with a play.
  • Like take a toss play and edit the blocking or take the pistol formation and add your own play to it or edit that formation itsself.
  • One thing that was bad about the madden version was that you could not move the linemen around. In today's game we see unbalanced lines (with a only guard and te to one side) and linemen as far out as the receivers
  • you should have they ability to choose the direction certain linemen will block and choose a motion man and pattern.
  • I also liked when you could create your own route or pick a simple one.
  • Im not too much concerned about creating the wildcat formation cuz that can be handled in formation subs, but the ability to create trick plays (reverses, wr hand offs, not so much fleaflicker but someone else might, hb pass, or wr pass where you throw it to a receiver behind line and he throws to another receiver) should be there
  • it would take mastermind to create a good defensive play or formation but i would certainly try it out, especially for people who may struggle with defending the pass or run.

Re: Nobody wants create a play?

Are you suggesting for it to be like create-a-play in NFL Head Coach 09? Create-a-play in that was good but a bit too complicated. I just don't see why we need our own plays, because you can mix together tons of plays from around the country in create-a-playbook (I think), and I think those plays would be enough.

It'll be dope the have but it would absolutely ruin online play. right now its bearable but with create-a-play, it'll get out of hand quick. EA's engines would have to change for this to happen.

Re: Nobody wants create a play?

Not create a play but you should be able to save your hot/routes adjustments. It'd basically be create a play (especially on defense where you can alter all 11 players' assignments) w/o trying to implement an actual create a play. It'd also save the user time from having to make the same pre-snap adjustments over and over.

Like if I choose a pass play, then hot router WR #1 to a slant, WR #2 to a post, and WR #3 to a comeback I should be able to save that. Then easily access it with one button, whereas it'd normally take like 6.

Re: Nobody wants create a play?

If EA could build this so that it'd run properly and without cheese, then yeah, it'd be amazing. But until the OL blocks correctly and realistically all the way up to the second level, I'm gonna stay skeptical.

If they can finally nail the engine so that it reflects real-ish physics and the playbuilder forces conformity with the actual rules of football, then maybe it wouldn't be all that hard to implement.

I do agree that using an online build for it a la TeamBuilder is the way to go, though.

Create a Play should be in under the condition that you cant use it in USER v. USER play and also the plays arent broken.
