Top 10 Safeties, according to ESPN.com

I think this is a very interesting debate after 1 and 2, personally I thought Berry was good last season, but I didn't think he was all of a sudden a top 5 safety just yet

I believe Ed Reed is hands down number 1. I agree with the rest of the top 4 but Rolle, Landry, Meriweather, and Bethea should be 5,6,7,8 how ever you wanna flip them in from of Berry, Griffin, and Whittner(What??),

I agree with the Top 4.

I think 5,6,7,8 Spots are a little bit more debatable.

Re: Top 10 Safeties, according to ESPN.com

I admit I didn't see any of Berry, but the one game I did catch of him (BAL @ KC Wild Card round this past season), he impressed me. I could clearly tell where he was on the field. I believe they aren't far off the mark when they say he (& Earl Thomas) will be the next dominant safety after Polamalu and Reed hang 'em up.

It's really not fair, though. #1 and #2 are pretty much all-time greats already. Tough to say any of the safeties out there currently will ever reach that level.

Even as a Steeler fan I can say I wouldn't be mad if Ed was one and Troy is two. I think as long as you have them ranked as the top two, you got it right

Meriweather should not be on any list rating good safeties. He's pretty average, and he got benched at the beginning of last season.

Edit: As I look at the rest of the list, there aren't a whole lot of impact players after the top 5 or 6.

Re: Top 10 Safeties, according to ESPN.com

If Eric Berry is a top five safety, the NFL is extremely weak in the safety department. Not to say I don't think he could get there, I do, but he made way too many mistakes last year for me to call him a top 5 safety at this point.

Ed should have been number one and won DMVP.

With that said, lol at Antrelle Rolle making this list.
