How would you blow up the Spurs?

Just for fun, I started thinking about what the possibilities with this team would be if I chose just one of the Big 3 - probably Duncan for legacy purposes - and traded most of the other assets away for players and picks. How would you do it? Would you be going for youth, trying to shed contracts, which role players would you keep? I've been thinking this would be more interesting on 2K12 but it can still be fun with 2K11.

I would probably clear the cap space by trading away Parker, Ginobili, Jefferson and Mcdyess to try to get some draft picks. The only players I would keep are Gary Neal, Blair, Duncan and maybe George Hill. After that sign some free agents to fill the spots of the players traded away.

Re: How would you blow up the Spurs?

I would start with the low post, this seems to be San Antonio's glaring weakness.

Center: First things first get rid of mcdyess, his old and over paid and can no longer hold his own. Re-sign Splitter , Draft a center/ free agency: Dalembert, turiaf.

Power forward: Let Duncan come off the bench in a 6th man role, start Blair.

As for the back court, Parker is pretty much gone this off season, G Hill and manu are back though. I would like them to bring in more defensive help i.e. Battier, or a scorer in michael redd or nick young.

At point i think they should ether look in the draft or go get a tj ford, mike bibby or even a jamal crawford.

Re: How would you blow up the Spurs?

i can't think of the spurs Blowing up their roster. They just seem to stable, so i think they would slowly rebuild.\

Anyhow i would release Mcd,.
Trade Blair
Let TP go
Develop Hill and Splitter
Draft Point or C

Re: How would you blow up the Spurs?

Parker isn't going to be a free agent until the end of the 2015 season guys, he signed a 4-year extension back in October of last year (2010).

Anyways, with the Spurs being my favorite Western Conference team by far, I wouldn't "blow up" the Spurs, that's just not realistic as Pop already said there won't be any major changes, and that the team won't be blown up. Just try to re-sign Duncan for a lot cheaper than his current contract states if he opts out of his player-option deal, and try to add a good center either through free agency, trade(s), or the draft. Also, let McDyess go via free agency as he is retiring in real life anyways. Good luck.
