Biggest Anti-Perfect Game Sham!

So, I'm in June in the first year of my Franchise, due to injuries I have Thomas Diamond in my Starting Rotation. He's actually pitching pretty well so far. Anyway, I'm facing the Marlins with him and have been perfect through the eight inning. Which, for this game, usually never happens (all of my no hit bids this year and in the past shows seem to always end on either a home run or a cheap hit in the 8th).

Diamond is due up third in the bottom of the 8th. We have a 5-0 lead, and he comes up to bat with nobody on and two outs. Well, apparently this game will never let me get a No Hitter or Perfect game, because I swing at a 2-0 count with Diamond and he gets hurt. So I don't even get a chance to go for the Perfecto.

In the 9th, I bring in Jeff Stevens and he gives up 3 runs, before bringing in Marmol to shut the door.

Diamond ends up hurt for 2-3 months. Sadness.

Forget that guy who had the greatest bunt of all time kill his no-no...

This is by far, THE WORST, end to a possible no-hitter I have ever read!

LOL!

Sorry to hear that man. You gotta admit, it's a pretty great story. Probably even more interesting than if you had actually gotten it done.

At least consider that.

I once had a no-no broken up by a bunt, of course it was on MLB2k8 for Wii so it wasn't worth a damn anyway, but still... JEFF SUPPAN of all people could've had a no-hitter but a bush-league bunt when they were down 13-0 Top 9th broke it up. Oh well.

Heart Breaking.

I swear this game is never going to let me throw a No-No.

When Anibal Sanchez had his no hitter going last week he came up to bat in the 8th. The announcer said "he shouldn't even swing the bat, just take his 3 strikes . There's no reason to risk a stupid injury." Should have heeded his advice lol

Yeah, I was gonna say, the pitcher usually doesn't even swing in these spots.

From my way of thinking: The injury thing is probably less of a concern than if he wound up on base. Then he'd have to jog (or perhaps sprint depending on what happens) around the bases, and it would perhaps upset the rhythm he was in. If it was me, I'd walk him. Make him hang out on the basepaths for a bit. Maybe make a pitching change or two just to make sure their pitcher has to go as long as possible between innings. Hopefully he doesn't remain warm/loose. Although I'm assuming they don't have this programmed into the game, so I guess all you'd care about in this case is injuries. (Though, with the analog mechanics this year, when I'm rolling, I want to keep going so I don't lose my touch. So I'd strike out real quick so I can hurry up and pitch again.)

A pitcher in that spot just wants to look at 3 strikes and hurry back onto the mound to maintain his "in the zone" status that he's got going.
