Wii Gameplay/Controller Question

Last night i was given a Wii. I don't know much about it as i've never wanted one. My question is......can i play games like Madden or NBA 2K11 the "regular" way with a classic controller? Meaning: Can i play them the same way that i'd play them if i had a PS3 or XBOX 360? I don't want to use any Wii motion features at all. I was hoping i could just buy a classic controller or a knock-off version of a PS3/XBOX 360 controller and play them the old fashioned way.

I'd really appreciate any insight. Thanks.

Re: Wii Gameplay/Controller Question

In short, no. The sports games on the Wii are designed around its motion controller. Honestly, it sounds like you'd be better served trying to sell the system and putting that money towards a PS3 or 360.

Re: Wii Gameplay/Controller Question

I'm pretty sure on NBA 2k11 you can use the Classic Controller. I could on NBA 2k10. Even shooters like GoldenEye, Black Ops, and Conduit 2 allow you do use the dual-analog Classic Controller for a more "traditional" controlling experience. No idea about Madden 11, however.

See what you can sell it for. Also check trade in value at Gamestop as they are also (until the 27th I beleive) giving extra 50.00 trade in on consoles.
IMO the Wii is pretty much dead.

Yup, I tool advantage of a similar deal around the time KZ3 released to get The Move and got $100 just for the Wii alone. Including accessories and games, I got over $300.
