Perfect timing swing and miss...

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I find that I get a lot of swing and misses with analog hitting when the batting analysis says "perfect" for the timing.

Is this tied strictly to a particular players contact rating, or is there more to it?

Perhaps the pitcher threw the pitch exactly like he wanted it.....someone has to "lose" when both pitcher and hitter are perfect.

Hitting small round ball with a round bat is pretty hard. The bat can't cover everywhere the ball can be thrown. Timing isn't everything. Pitcher and hitter abilities come into play.

And yea, it has been asked before.

I think that's due to the players plate vision rating.

If you were rewarded every time you timed your swing perfectly, the hitting in this game would get old very fast.

It's funny how no one really complains when they squeak out a hit with less than perfect timing, or with poor PCI placement.

So how much of Analog hitting is my skill? 30%? 50%? It gets a little frustrating having so little control. It's kind of like playing a catcher in RTTS. I can call the pitches but it's the pitcher's skill that determines success. While this is all far more realistic, sometimes I get the feeling that I'm watching the computer play against itself. I might eventually go back to zone hitting but I like the idea of analog so I'll keep going with it a bit longer.

Funny you should mention that. I doubled with Mark Teixera (batting from the right) to LF when I was late on an inside fastball.

Like they say in the game, "Even the best hitters fail 7 out of 10 times". Sometimes you can have perfect timing and just miss the ball, happens a lot in real life.
