Looking for info and opinions on user power.....lemme hear ya slider guru's

Total control hitting is what I use, I am the Mets so not a very powerful team, although Wright Beltran Bay and Ike are decent. I see some using 50pwr for user and some using 85pwr for user, I have settled on 75 and im seeing some good amount of homeruns, just dont want someone to have like 80 at the end of the year ha ha

All opinions and suggestions are welcome, is 75 a good number to sit at or should it be moved

btw the rest of my sliders are a mix up of Joes and Mkharsh

There is no magic number, but i can tell you anything above 50 is to much power.

Sure above 50 its easier to hit home runs but hitting a home run in every game is unrealistic.

It just depends on your preference do you want to hit unrealistic amount of home runs then put user power over 50 or do you want to get a realistic amount of base hits, then put user power at 50 or lower.

Either way there is no magic number you have to sacrifice something

I see most people have it over 50 so Im not sure how accurate that is, I have played 12 games and Ike has 3, Beltran 1, Bay 0......I think Wright has 6, Im not even in top 3 for team HR's so I dont know how anything above 50 would be unrealstic

Hitting 1 homerun per game is not only realistic, it's not even on the high end of things. Last year the top 5 HR hitting teams averaged roughly 1.3 home runs per game.

With that said, I'm running 50 user power and I'm a little light on HR's. Only averaging .67 per game with a Braves team in the second year. Have 4 guys with 80's power, 2 with 70's, 1 with 60's and 1 with 50. Should be good for more than 2 homeruns every 3 games. I'm going to test it some more but I think the magic number for me might be 55 user power, 40 user contact.

Also need to consider that other sliders can effect how many homeruns you hit. CPU pitch succes is one of them, seems the lower this slider is the more they throw over the heart of the plate.

That is interesting about the 1.3 hrs a game didn't know that.
You are right more then 1 slider does count.

I think its best to find the perfect balance that you are comfortable with contact and power that will allow you a variation of hits and not swing it to where you have so much power and you hit a hr every game and other then that you have not much variation in hits.

all base ball games are the same when it comes to sliders you can raise the power so that most of your hits will be rockets to the out field and get a lot of hrs and hardly no hit variation or you can lower power hit less hrs and get more hit variation. in the end you are going to have to choose which one you can live with because unfortunately its impossible to accomplish both in a baseball video game.

Me personally i rather have lower hit power and get that variation in hits.

I agree with you on this. I had user power as high as 70 and all I hit were bullets. With 50 power you see the slow rollers and choppers that you don't see otherwise. I think I will likely end up at 55 user power, 65 cpu power (5 higher than I have them currently set) which should still produce good variety but also yield a little more power.

I've found that setting the game to All-Star gives me great results in this and almost every other area. There are definitely some things that could use minor tweaks, but I am getting incredible results just going at it this way. For example, I've had games that went to the wire and ended up winning or losing 3-2 or 1-2 and then come back and had games that ended up 12-11 and then most that come out somewhere in the middle or being blowouts. Loving the variance from game to game. Probably averaging around 1.5 homers a game using the Yankees, some stretches it is more than that, some less.

Nothing against the slider tweakers, I just have been very impressed by the base set and haven't needed to mess with it much, but obviously every player is different.
