There's no doubt the next gen in gaming is going to bring better visuals and possibly larger disc sizes for games to fit in more content but I feel a bit worried.

I'm sure most of us are old enough to remember the PS2/Xbox days where the final versions of Madden pre- Xbox 360/PS3 had a bunch of features we adored but sadly weren't present during the launch of this current gen. Do you think history is going to repeat itself and we're going to go through the same negative emotions towards Madden? Hell, even for NCAA?

Considering it seems that most gaming is going to move into the 3D TV direction, I don't see a high rate of early adoption for the 'new consoles' if they need 3D televisions for their proper use.

I will rock my 360 til the next console drops in price. After a $600 price-tag for the PS3 when it came out, imagine what the next ones will be - $700 to $1000+?

To answer your question, I don't see Madden or NCAA on PS3/360 making the same leaps in quality simply because they have had 6 years at this point.

By the time Madden 2005 came around (4 years after the first one for PS2) it was among the best sports games ever made. IMHO, I believe Madden 2005 is the best iteration of Madden, ever.

Possibly the best football game ever made. At least from a franchise mode perspective.

Out of my control.

Of course its a good thing. Technology moves fast so in 5 years just think of all the possibilities.

It's not good for the Madden franchise, sadly.

Over the past decade, Tiburon has gotten into the bad habit of stripping Madden down to it's bare basics for each new console and then slowly puts back everything that it had put in at the end of the last Gen of consoles.

The 3DS is a perfect example. They stripped down the Wii version and added the 3D effect to it - just to have a market presence on the 3DS platform. Now, Tiburon will spend the next couple years putting back in the features the previous Gen versions already had.

Same thing happened with the leap from Old Gen to Next Gen on the Xbox 360 - (Madden 06 I think?) had pretty new graphics... and nothing else. Literally nothing else. They've spent the past 6 years adding back in everything the PS2/Xbox1 versions had with some new features along the way, but nothing truly groundbreaking, like the other flagship games out there.)

It's odd though - the Madden series is the only series that seems to take 3 steps backward when a new console comes out, rather than taking 3 steps forward and never looking back.

I mostly played on the PC until I bought the 360 came.(08 on up)

How was the progression from PS1 to PS2? Same thing, 3 steps backward?

I wonder also how the progression was from Nintendo to PS1. I don't recall hearing any complaints, but I could be wrong.

No way. I would say 3 steps forward. Madden on PS2 compared to PSX was night and day comparison wise.
