single button swinging? gone in '11?

Hey guys-

Amazing forum..just bought MLB 11 The Show, after playing '10 until my thumbs bled.

I played '10, on Rookie batting, with the sliders lowered for hitting dramatically, and got some very realistic statistics in my Franchise modes. I liked Rookie because it removed the need to use X and Square to swing...it was simply X for every swing...

Anyway, here is my question...
How do I do this in '11? I have batting set on Rookie, but I am still required to pick between multiple buttons to swing the god damn bat, and it is annoying and I dont want to be bothered. Maybe I am old school lol (im 30).

Am I the only person who prefers to play this way? Is there a way to making Swinging 1 button? In '10 on Rookie it was just the X button for all swings.

Thanks Guys

Are you sure about that?

I'm fairly certain that even on rookie square was still for a power swing and x was normal.

Remember though, you don't ever have to use other swing types and in fact I RARELY even used power swing and still get plenty of HR's.

Yeah I am pretty sure.

I changed it mid game, and I still had multiple button options to swing with.

I suppose I could use just X and see how that faired.

I am probably in the minority, but to me this is really annoying IMO. I'm not interested in picking between 2 or 3 buttons to swing, nevermind the analog sticks lol. Maybe video games are passing me by and getting too complicated.

I'm gonna try it again tomorrow, and report back, but I am 99% sure single button swinging has been eliminated.

Either way, you don't HAVE to pick between the three.

You can hit x all game and be fine. You will still hit plenty of home runs and will still get two strike hits.

The addition of the contact swing is great but if you choose not to use it you will still be okay, it's not something that is forced upon you.

Wait, after thinking more about this,

Are you trying to decide after the pitch has been thrown which button to push? If so that is the wrong approach to take.

I would never be able to do it that way, I choose my swing type based on the situation so my thumb is over whatever button I'm going to push well before the pitch is delivered.

I like to use 1 button for all too.

Re: single button swinging? gone in '11?

Give the 3 button approach a chance based on the situation, I have learned to effectively use Power Swing, Normal Swing, and Contact Swing when appropriate.

If I get locked in on a pitch and location I use Power Swing

If I am in a hitters count I use Normal Swing

If I am in a 2 strike count, or a situation that requires just putting the ball into play I use contact swing.

Re: single button swinging? gone in '11?

I have only played the demo for The Show 11 but let me ask this question since it is on topic:

In the demo it forced you to use the right stick to swing the bat and pitch. If I buy the full version will it will allow me to switch and use the buttons instead for both batting and pitching? The reason I didn't buy the full version is because I hated using the stick for everything (keep in mind, I am not a huge video baseball fan but do enjoy it, I am more of a football guy so I am not on this forum very often unlike NCAA and Madden).
