History of major conference teams stealing automatic bids

What is the history of such teams since it became 64-65 teams? The only one I remember seeing was when Georgia won 2 games on Selection Sunday.

I've also seen Ohio State come thisclose before losing to Illinois and Pittsburgh in 2001

2009, Miss. State won the SEC tournament stealing a bid.

2008, Georgia won the SEC tournament stealing a bid.

2000, Arkansas won the SEC tournament stealing a bid.




Those are the ones I know from the SEC.

USC - 2009
Syracuse - 2006

Washington last year in the Pac-10 too.

The weird thing about Syracuse in 2006 was that they actually got a 5 seed after their insane tournament run. You would've never known that they were even on the bubble, but after beating UConn the next day, they probably clinched their bid.

That was supposed to be Carmelo Anthony's Senior season, with a few weak recruit classes that didn't pan out we had.. GMAC. He carried that damn team!
