WR positions on depth chart question.

Do you guys order your depth chart starting the best WR down to the lowest rated? Or do you position them on the depth chart according to the playbook your using so that your better WR will get to run routes that are more successful for you? To me it seems that most of the number one WR routes regardless of who you using are a lot tougher to throw to? All of my deep pass are more successful on the left side anyone else noticing this?

When I am playing a game I order my WR's to best fit the routes regardless of who I will "throw to the most" as you put it.

But when I sim games I order it to who I want targeted most. (which is usually the highest rated guys.) Because when you sim a game, the higher a guy is on the depth chart the more targets he gets.

Know what I mean?

Re: WR positions on depth chart question.

well since my team dont have really any good wr's i tend to keep it like the real depth chart although it seem's all my wr's are playing good and since my qb mccoy dosent have good deep ball acc i have hope throw it short and the wr's can out run the defenders. i have also noticed the long passes i get are to left side as well.

Re: WR positions on depth chart question.

I keep it rated highest at the top and lowest at the bottom (barring a few exceptions like say I want a WR to start over another). During gameplay, I do sub formations where I can throw my primary into slot or swap positions with my number 2 to give me mismatches. I noticed playing against CPU Greenbay Packers, they throw Greg Jennings around different positions too to throw me mismatches.

I try to put true slot receivers in the slots....otherwise I put the best receiver in a 3rd slot in the depth chart giving him lots of inside routes that I like best.

I liked to put my best guy in the 1st slot, my second best guy will be 3rd on the list to play out of the slot for 3rd down situations mostly, and my third best guy is playing at number 2.

Re: WR positions on depth chart question.

I like to order mine based on how I intend to use them. Since I use the Panthers, I have to rely on my receivers skills set every year.

Steve Smith is my #1WR and I motion him most plays to move defenders. David Gettis is fast so I like to isolate him on the weak side. Brandon Lafell is tall and physical, so I use him in the slot for deep out breaking routes and drags/slants over the middle.

Just so happens that this is the default for WR 1-3 on the depth chart... I don't like using more than 3WR at a time, so #4 really doesn't matter. He's only going to see the field on 3rd and a mile or if someone is injured.

Re: WR positions on depth chart question.

I have three good WR but I have been keeping the two fastest to the number 2 or 3 positions on the depth chart because it seems throwing to the left side is more effective especially on the deep balls. I leave Pierre Garcon as my number one but for the routes in the 49er's playbook he rarely see's a lot of targets.
