Will it ever be played again?

Re: Is the WBC dead?

It's every four years (the second one was three years in order to set the schedule up correctly. They want it to be on World Cup and Olympic off years).

So the next one is in 2013.

Love the WBC, one of the best baseball experiences I had was attending the US/Canada game in the Rogers Centre.

Every 3 years I believe. 2006, 2009, 2012

Edit: forget it, I see the above post.

I didn't get to watch most of the last one, but in 2006 I was up every night that week doing some serious homework cramming and such, so it was really, really relieving to be watching a baseball game at 2:00 AM. I can't wait for the next one!

Re: Is the WBC dead?

If it's once every four years then MLB needs to try and setup the tourney to be run in July.

Cancel the all-star game add in another 10 days off so you'd have 2 weeks roughly. Simply start the season approx. a week early and end it a week late. It's only every four years so can't see that being a huge problem.

This would also add to the other thread about how to grow the sport. Players would be in mid season form so less chance of injury.

The NHL does or did this every four years in the Olympics, wow talk about exciting hockey!
