I'm not so sure about the stereo feature, but NHL 2k12 sure could benefit from some amazing presentation like they have in MLB 2k10 and NBA 2k11.

But why would he go out of his way to mention that the NHL series could benefit from this technology?

Stereo 3D isn't possible on the Wii. At least not from what I've found.
If I'm wrong please correct me. But if it's true the Wii doesn't handle this kind of sound, then he must be talking about next-gen.
