On a 10 scale, what do you all rate the demo?

Now to chime in with a couple more observations. I have to take off a point because it seems they took away the ability for me to slowly walk around the ring.

In FightNight4, you could nudge the analog stick ever so slightly and kinda creep around the ring. That was my brand in FN4. There's a variation of it in FNC but it aint the same.

I have to take a point off (although I might give it back at retail) for the overall polish of the game. It seems very rough, and no where near as smooth as FN4. That goes back to the movement also. I like the speed but it seems like the framerate is jacked up which makes it look jerky/choppy to me. Anyone know how early of a build this is? As stated, I'll probably give the point back on retail if everything is smoothed out.

I though about taking a point off for the removal of high low blocking, but now that I think about it I figure it was a good idea considering the speed of the game now. People are saying they want it back but ehhhhh i just dont know right now. I'm thinking that you really wont be able to react fast enough to block high/low with any effectiveness. You might think so, but that's up in the air. The game is very visceral and fast now.

The ring entrances suffice for me personally so I have no qualms with the presentation. The commentary suffices also. I honestly dont even pay attention to it lol. Its just a background thing for me.

I suppose the ref in the ring is cool, but its like he doesn't even exist to me, I barely even glance at him.

I'll rate the demo an 8/10 right now. Great title. Figuring the framerate at retail will be smoothed out. I'm hoping this is as veeery early build.

Re: On a 10 scale, what do you all rate the demo?

7/10

+graphics are amazing, lighting, damage modeling, body types and camera all standout as impressive

+movement and punch animations are much improved

+Full Spectrum Punch Control is great

+footwork is improved from FNR4

+1 punch K.O.'s are handled well

+CPU A.I. is a lot better than FNR4, actually presents a challenge without being cheap

-really disappointed they went with a "queue combo punches" mechanic instead of a more responsive system where punches are thrown exactly when you flick the stick

-disappointed that perfect block causes a counter window, pretty sure we were told all counter windows were gone at one point in development. If perfect block just guaranteed a really high chance that the punch would be blocked and that's all, I would be onboard. Timing a regular block is not the same as parrying, and may really hurt the game

-disappointed in some of the current tuning decisions (short-term stamina drains too slowly), heavy punches don't do enough damage to a fighter's health, regular punches are too accurate

-disappointed the dev team didn't think to add a punch feign mechanic and the ability to cancel a queued up combo with the block button

-netcode seems worse than FNR4, haven't had 1 smooth match online yet, couldn't even connect to anyone today

I'll give the demo an 8.5

8 is the overall rating of the demo IMO.

I'm giving the 0.5 to EA for allowing Online in a demo!

Re: On a 10 scale, what do you all rate the demo?

Sound EFX: 8
Commentary:5 (Seems similar to last year, but the retail version should has more lines I assume)
Graphics: 10
Controls: 9
Fun Factor/Gameplay as an Arcade boxing game: 10
Fun Factor/Gameplay as a Boxing sim game: 8 (When access to the retail version's games settings, sliders, etc. I can see this being in the 9-10 range as a sim boxing game assuming the sliders work as expected)

I'm impressed, especially since this is just a demo.

Re: On a 10 scale, what do you all rate the demo?

6/10

Good:
-The punching is GREAT! That's worth 5 points all buy itself.
-Graphics are amazing.

Bad:
-Footwork
-Presentation
-Commentary
-Ref: He's there but he does nothing.
-Punches don't have enough effect.
-Stamina needs adjustment.
