Run and Shoot playbook

If youve ever played the run and shoot playbook, or a team using it, doesn't it seem like it wants you to pass the ball every single play? I can't seem to run effectively out of the RnS or from a spread either...can someone help me? I'm using chia51's (I think) sliders in the "Updated Coaching Sliders" thread. Great stuff.

I think its just me doing something wrong, because I'm frequently stopped for losses running the spread, even against bad teams (in my offline dynasty!). I'm currently using Hawaii, but I suck even still when using someone like Oregon. Can someone give me some pointers about running the football from the shotgun?

Re: Run and Shoot playbook

Running from the shot gun is inherently flawed in this game, so there's not a whole lot you can do. I would suggest an increase the Run Blocking slider, to a reasonable level, but that's only if you're only going be running out of the shotgun exclusively.

Re: Run and Shoot playbook

Okay thanks, and thanks for the quick response. That's my problem. I've bounced up the RB ability slider, but then when I go back to my I form, etc, I gouge the other team for 10 YPC no problem. I run Hawaii with either their playbook or BYU's playbook, which has a ton of shotgun, and then some I/offset I formations. I like the offset I's but I can't run from the shotgun. It is a fun offense though, throwing for like 4k+ per season. Maybe I'll recruit a fast guy.

Re: Run and Shoot playbook

Just about to finish a dynasty with SMU, 12-0 C-USA Champs, BCS#4 and Rose Bowl Berth vs. USC. Played on Heisman, threw for over 5,400 yards with Kyle Padron, he won the heisman, my fullback/tailback zach line only had like 400 yards rushing on the year, with a bunch of short yardage td's though, at least 12 rushing td's. I really had no need to run the ball alot, just ran to change it up (when other teams were spreading out on D) or in short yardage, which was surprisingly effective. Threw a lot of quick, short passes (slants, outs, rocket and slip screens) and went 4 verticals for at least 2-3 deep balls a game.

Yeah, I did just about exactly the same thing with Hawaii but with a slider set instead of Heisman because I don't like how it plays. I had one loss to the soon-to-be national champions Boise State. I had Bryant Moniz or whoever throw for 5000+, and I had Salas, my slot WR (best rated, just put at slot) win the heisman with 2k+ receiving yards, 20 receiving TDs, and a Rush TD from a WR sweep.

My RB had an alright number of TD's but he avged like 2.6 ypc...WR sweeps were the most effective way to run the ball lol.

Re: Run and Shoot playbook

Running from the R&S is nearly impossible because there are zero inside runs from the gun. Everything is outside or draws, which have ridiculously slow handoff animations, allowing the DL more time to get off blocks. There are zero flex formations with the RB diagonal to the QB (which is dumb because thats all SMU runs) which also contributes to poor running. I just suggest upping run block by about 10 points.

Thanks...i guess that is best but I have to remember to change it back once I go pro style...or else I'll be going for like 10 ypc.
