Recruiting: Bench vs. Squat

In recruiting, benchpress and squat are two different measurables that you can see when recruiting, along with 40 time, and awareness I think.

What is the difference between the two? Does bench show the strength rating? Does squat show acceleration or something? It's annoying to have to pick through recruits when I could just sort them by a measurable. I do it with 40 time all the time.

And are they perfectly telling? Like a guy who runs a 4.3...will he always be faster than a 4.35 guy? In Madden sometimes theyve lied to me...like a bust player with a fast 40 may not always be fast....i could just check the ratings anyways.

That table is really useful. And says underneath what bench, etc. mean.

The post above mine with the link explains "what" they mean. I'll answer the other question you had.

"And are they perfectly telling? Like a guy who runs a 4.3...will he always be faster than a 4.35 guy? In Madden sometimes theyve lied to me...like a bust player with a fast 40 may not always be fast....i could just check the ratings anyways."

-Yes, the measurables and the alphabetic scores associated to the recruits are exact. If a player has 4.42 speed it will be 90 speed exactly, a 4.24 will always be a 99 speed player. HOWEVER, do not let "speed" be the only attribute you recruit by if you're looking for "game speed" as Acceleration and Agility also play into the "game speed" of a recruit.

A player with 99 speed will pretty much never be chased down by an 88 speed linebacker IF they've already broken past the defense and are streaking for the endzone.... however a 99 speed HB with only 78 acceleration and 80 agility CAN likely be caught running laterally across the field on stretch plays by that same 88 speed LB, because 99 speed is only the maximum speed a player has and it takes time to reach it.

If I'm looking for speed players, I'd rather have a player with 90-95 speed and 90+ agility/acceleration than a 99 speed guy with only 80-accel/agility.

The 99 speed guys with low acceleration/agility are only good for go routes.

Anyway, to make a long story short, all the ratings for recruits are accurate, just dont use those FEW measurables listed as your ONLY sticking points. You should ALWAYS look deeper into the prospects actual listed "alphabetic measurables" on his personal information because 99 speed with only C or B- type of positional ratings is likely not going to be great, where as the guy with B+ and A's but 4.3s-4.4's will likely be a faster/better gameday player.

Thanks alot!!!

And I know what you mean as the other things, I run into A speed Receivers with C or D agility and acceleration all the time. They usually play very awkwardly. I just wanted to use the measurables to "sort" the players so I could find the strongest, fastest, etc.

Re: Recruiting: Bench vs. Squat

I don't know if your doing your dynasty online, but you can download a spread sheet from the easports.com online dynasty page. The spread sheet list all of the attributes letter grades for the whole recruiting class. You can sort the spread sheet in all kinds of way if you know how you use Microsoft excel. I just found this out and I have the best recruiting class I have ever had coming in next year. guys with A+ speed and A- acceleration that were like 2* and 3* guys that I would have never found if it weren't for this spread sheet. Also you can find guys who can play other positions. I found a 2* Punter who is 6'5 has A- Speed with B+ throw power!!!!! Kinda wondering about this guy, his accuracy is a D-. Haven't seen his rating yet. keeping my fingers crossed.
