The Decemberists- The King is Dead

Anybody else get this album? It just released today, and its great. I find most of the their old stuff to be a bit too much, with the whole "british folk revival" thing they had before.

This album is much more accessible and down to earth, with a more americana/folk type feel, and lyrics I can actually start to understand (or at least think so, haha).

My favorite tracks are: June Hymn, This is Why We Fight, Calamity Song, Don't Carry it All, and Down By the Water

Had all the tracks several months ago, and got the retail version probably a month ago....

All I can say is the live versions are MUCH much superior IMO.

Rise to Me and This is why we Fight live are unbelievable.

Overall not a bad effort from one of my favorite bands, but their old stuff is much more my steez than this is.

Picked this up last night. It's an enjoyable listen for sure. So far my favorites would have to be the first two songs, but there isn't a bad song to be found. Will most likely end up in my top ten list at the end of the year

Pulled it up on ITunes Tuesday but have only had an opporunity to listen to it through once. Its the Decemberists so I know I'll enjoy it, but haven't had a real chance to feel the songs out yet.
